Hi,
My wife and I married in Thailand and hence have the Thai wedding certificates.
Obviously when we applied for settlement(m) a few years ago it was translated and stamped by the ministry if I remember correctly.
Now the time has come where she will apply for UK Citizenship, will these same documents (wedding certificates) be suitable for this application? Or would they need to be translated by someone recognised in the UK?
The same goes for applying for sons first UK passport where the marriage certificates are required.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Shug

Uk Citizenship Application

Hi again,
If you are applying for UK citizenship and were married in Thailand and have only the Thai wedding certificates and certified translation (certified in Bangkok for the British embassy) is this sufficient for the citizenship application which requests wedding certificates?
If yes then great, if not please provide further info.
Much appreciated as always!

Uk Citizenship App

Hi all,
A quick questing regarding uk citizenship application (spouse of uk citizen.. Thai nationality)
Does the passport need to be sent off for a considerable amount of time when the application is made or is it possible to have certified copies sent instead? It would be nice if we could leave the country when the application is in progress.
Also,
Once citizenship is granted and they apply for a UK passport, I would assume they could leave the country then also on their Thai passport?
Basically, residency requirement is fulfilled in mid March but my wife would like to go home at some point after March but I realise the citizenship application etc is quite lengthy. If anyone has experience I'd appreciate some input!
Many Thanks as always,
Shug

Child Passport

Hi,
I thought I would apply online for my sons first passport, born in the UK to Thai mum, UK father.
Has a UK birth certificate.
After entering fathers details, mothers details etc.. the form states that it would be beneficial (support the application) for the application to list maternal grandparents (mothers side) their dates of birth, date of marriage etc... (they are Thai)
Mother has ILR in the UK anyway.
Anyone with experience of this? Am I as well to just send the paper application off? Or would I expect to hear back from them requesting more information anyway?
Many Thanks,
Shug

Residency Requirements

Hi,
I've posted a lot in the last few days but busy sorting a lot of things out.
I have another question to those who wouldn't mind taking the time to answer.
For a spouse of a UK citizen it says that in a three year period they can be outside the UK for no more than 270 days and no more than 90 days in the final year.
Then it mentions discretion and they usually disregard anything up to 100 days (after some very slight digging.)
Basically my wife will have been outside the UK for 99 days before she returns, also she was here is Feb for 21 days but I think the visa date is 10th March so this will be the final year from that date.
Although I believe it OK to submit the application with 99 days and hopefully the 'discretion' will be fine could I just hang on until 9 days after the anniversary of her 99 days outside the UK? So as to bring it into the 90 days in one year?
I guess, simply, what I'm asking is, can the three year period begin at your choosing to apply for residency as long as the requirements have been met in a straight three year period?
Thanks in advance!
