Looks like another airline is taking a shot at nonstop flights between Bangkok and Mae Hong Son. And what could possibly be more pleasant than a flight on an airline called Happy Air?

Mae Hong Son is really a nice place to visit, particularly at this time of year, but it can be a hassle getting there, so a nonstop flight makes it a lot esier. if you remember PB Air, they had really nice flights on Embraer commuter jets. Happy Air are using Saab 340s, which of course are slower.
Looks like they are only offering flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the moment.

Thai Holidays 2012 Calendar Subscription For Ical
2011-12-19 09:35:37
I've noticed that my current Thai Holidays iCal calendar (downloaded from the Apple) subscription ends with 2011. I've been using this one since 2009, but there are no more holidays listed commencing with 2012. I've googled everywhere but have not been able to find one for 2012. Has anyone else found one?
No Parking At Suvarnabhumi
2011-10-12 18:17:15
I had an early flight today, so knowing that many people would be headed to one of the few elevated car parks in the area (Suvarnabhumi), I drove out last night to put my car there and then stay somewhere nearby.
All car parks at Suvarnabhumi were full. There were perhaps 200 cars queuing outside, and I actually joined the queue for a while last night, but nothing was moving after about 30 minutes. As I drove away, I could see the barriers had actually been placed at the entrances.
So...if you have a flight out, don't plan on driving out and leaving your car at the airport.

Free Parking At Swampy Now

Noticed that parking was free at short term on Saturday, and it was still free this evening (Tuesday) when I pulled in. Anybody know why?
BTW, also noticed that there are police checkpoints in front of the parking garages, and the road is narrowed down to one lane. Perhaps another fight between syndicates over who gets the parking concession?

Just received a link for this in my email.
