Have a local insurance policy and let her take care of it all. If she loves you and is caring she will do the right thing.
You will be dead and gone so it is up to them.
Make sure you have the death certificate and I cannot see the need for any other docs.

There are quite a few other documents needed unfortunately.

The police should come to view your body to check that you died of natural causes, ie no knife or bullet wounds etc after which they let the body go to the hospital.

Then you will get a death certificate from the hospital from which your family reclaim the body, and it is the responsibility of the police to report your death to the UK embassy.

http://ukinthailand....-register-death

gives good information and help and there are a couple of related documents there as well.

I have set up a death book for my wife, just a loose leaf forlder telling her where things are, pension details, UK Bereavement Benefit paperwork worth GBP 2,000, who to contact in the UK etc.

The UK Bereavement Benefit is about 20 pages long but can be dowloaded and completed beforehand but to obtain the Benefit your death has to be reported and then they will send the form. After that it is easy to copy all the details across.

They also require your birth certificate, marriage certificate and some othe documents which will be returned.

Your family will also have to return your passport.

I also have a couple of farang friends who will help her out when talking to government departments in the UK.

It is something everybody needs to do now while they can to make life for their Thai wife and family easier when they have gone.

Do you mean the Chang Draught in a bottle? I think this is the same stuff they send abroad, much better than the Classic.

Has a good taste to it, 5% alcohol and not so bad a hangover. Much more flavour than Leo.

Also had that "Makro moment" today when I went to the Hang Dong store. Only beers of interest were the Beer Lao (sadly still the 27 July batch) and Chang Export. Having never seen the latter, thought I had to give it a try.... So, just finishing up a head to head taste test....

Amazingly I am drinking a Chang that does not not taste like a science experiment gone wrong. Really not a bad drink at all, but still lacks the hoppiness of a Beer Lao (even a 3 month old version). Overall Beer Lao still wins by a length and a half, but Chang Export is quite a canny brew and is probably the best Thai beer on the market today. Or is this just a fluke of the floods and this Chang Export is supposed to be heading off to quench the thirst of sad Evertonians instead?

No, this is a specific new brew, Chang Export, which, as noted by the OP, is now on sale in Makro.

Give it a try. I think you'll find it has merit!

Police investigate grenades in Pratunam

A hand grenade exploded late on Friday night near the roof of the famous Khao Mun Gai Ton Pratunam chicken rice shop a block from the Rajprasong intersection, while another grenade fired in the same attack was a dud. No casualties were reported.

BANGKOK: -- The two grenades were lobbed onto the roof of a Krung Thai Bank branch near the shop at around 11.30pm. After the blast, police evacuated residents from the shop-house before the bomb squad detonated it inside car tyres.

Police noted the names of all residents in nearby buildings as the grenades were believed to have been thrown down from one of the buildings.

Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva met yesterday with National Police chief General Wichean Potephosree after an explosion at a commercial bank in the Pratunam area of Bangkok.

Police initially theorised that the attack stemmed from a personal conflict as the area is frequently used by teenagers as a meeting place.

Police said they plan to invite witnesses for questioning, which could lead to the arrest of the suspected bomber, while they also plan to examine surveillance cameras installed in the area, which might give them some clues.

Meanwhile, the Department of Special Investigation said cash was being distributed by people planning and carrying out the attacks via couriers - a new tactic to avoid cash transactions being detected through bank accounts or cash machines.

Couriers were sneaking through borders with a neighbouring country, said DSI director-general Tharit Phengdit, who did not give details about sources of the money used in funding the terror attacks.

Those carrying out the attacks were linked to "the men in black" who were believed involved in many incidents of violence during the red-shirt protests in April and May.

"They have now gone underground after they are no longer accepted as being part of the [red shirts'] political movement," he said.

Democrat MP Thepthai Senpong said the people behind the attacks were in three groups: those with ill-intent against the government; "psychos" who enjoyed pranks such as bomb scares; and opportunists who exploited political instability to benefit themselves. He did not cite any sources of reference to back up his remarks.
