On Friday 4th May I lost my wallet with my credit cards in. It caused a few problems as I'd paid for flights with one of them. Got that sorted but now the new ones are arriving at my address in the UK. There's only one I need until I get back at the beginning of August. Anyone know of the best way to get one sent over safely? I do realise I may be asking a bit too much.
Non Immigrant O-A Visa Forms
2012-03-30 06:43:16
I'm in the process of preparing to apply for a non Imm O-A visa in the UK and I'm a little confused about a few things. I got good advice on here before so I'm back for more.

A lot of the confusion is down to the embassy website not matching the forms.
The website says 3 application forms and 3 passport photos plus a Non immigrant "O-A" (long stay) form. On the visa form it says " 2 photographs to be submitted with 1 application form. Does this mean 3 forms with 2 photos. My guess is it's 3 forms with a photo each? On my previous post Tafia said 3 visa forms and 3 O-A long stay forms. If you're around Tafia is this correct as I know you've done this?
I'm initially going for 3 months coming back to the UK and then if everything works out I'll go out again to live with my gf after sorting things out in the UK. How should I describe this where it says "Purpose of visit"? It also asks for evidence substantiating this and in the notes it says.
2.3. For other purposes than tourism: Please submit EVIDENCE SUBSTANTIATING YOUR PURPOSE OF STAY.
Examples of such evidence are in case of transit, a confirmed travel document (air ticket etc.) showing Thailand as point of
transit, in case of business trip, a letter from employer and/or business counterpart in Thailand, in case of working in Thailand, a letter
of employment from your prospective employer, such document should be addressed to The Royal Thai Embassy, in case of
settlement in Thailand with Thai spouse/Children/Parents, your certificate of marriage/birth.
I'm intending to settle but as yet we're not married so I'm not sure what evidence I can give.
It asks for duration of stay. Would this be the 1 year before renewal?

Are these for transit visas maybe so I should not fill this in?
Am I right in assuming that the rules regarding seasoning of accounts in Thailand for other non imm visas don't apply to funds in the UK. I ask this because I have ample funds to meet the 800,000 THB requirement spread around several accounts (mostly ISAs which I've explained in my other post) which haven't had withdrawals for a few years I'm waiting for a reference letter from Santander which I asked for in the branch. I'm hoping it will be what I need although they did seem a bit vague. This will cover about 510,000 THB. All the other accounts are in internet only accounts so there isn't a branch to go into and it's proving difficult. My daughter is due to pay me some money which would cover this and I was thinking if this was paid into my Lloyds TSB current account I could get a letter direct from the branch but of course this would be money that was recently paid in. Any thoughts on this? I actually thought the funds issue would be the simplest since there are sufficient static funds available but it's proving to be the hardest.

Non Immigrant O-A Visa Reporting
2012-01-08 21:15:05
Just a quick question.
I'm moving to Thailand in May on a "O-A" visa and I know I need to report to immigration every 90 days. I may need to return to the UK just before 90 days and then return after. I know that leaving and entering the kingdom counts as reporting but I'm sure this occurs on return rather than leaving so this would be too late. If this is the case how long before the 90 days can I report?
Many thanks

Honda Jazz New Or Secondhand
2011-12-31 17:33:32
I'm planning on moving to Thailand to live with my gf in Mahasarakham in May 2012. We're thinking of buying a car for various reasons such as taking her mother to temples, getting to work when it rains and because I have balance problems so I'm not sure yet about riding a bike. After renting a Jazz this time last year we think this is a good option.
Because of the supply problems she may have to order it before I go out so I need to have some idea of the specs of the different models. For some reason Honda Thailand don't seem to do an english language version of their website. I know it's Thailand but I'm sure there are a lot of expats who buy new cars. Unfortunately the UK site isn't much help as I'm guessing even the top of the range Jazz in LOS doesn't have heated seats.
One other question is should I go for secondhand as normally cars depreciate quickly from new? I know others have said on here it's not worth it as Thais tend not to look after their vehicles but I'm wondering since we're talking about a car rather than a pickup and I was thinking of buying from the Honda dealer if this might be a good option.
Any thoughts on this or other options anyone thinks might help would be appreciated.

Language Problems At Uk Immigration
2011-11-13 05:13:45
I'm not sure if this is the right forum or maybe should be in travel.
Next year my Thai gf and her 17 year old daughter are coming to the UK. I may be coming with them or meeting them depending on which country I'm in at the time. My gf is pretty good at english although she had a little problem going through Abu Dhabi last year but then again I have problems in the UK sometimes. The trouble is her daughter is good at maths but not so good at languages including Thai apparently. I hardly ever hear her use english although I think this may be because she is too shy to use it while I'm there. Amazingly my complete lack of expertise in Thai doesn't seem to help. I'm a bit worried about how she will get on at UK immigration. Her mother will be there but she may be at a different desk.
I was just wondering if anyone else has had experience of this.
