Bangkok Bank Charges A Fee For Me To Give Them My Money.
2011-11-08 22:34:57
If the account you are depositing to is in a different region, there is a fee to give them your money!!! I thought this had to be a joke the first time. Simply unbelievable! Even for Thailand!! Is this practice uniform among the banks here? I would like to transfer my money to a bank that doesn't write their fee structure in lala land.

Two Thai Words Need Defined.
2011-11-03 22:07:05
One sounds like "too late" and is uttered when I burp or fart or do something similar. The other is "monsai" as in "I monsai you." Usually in the context of the speaker wanted to jokingly strangle me or hit me. I kinda get the jist with the context, but don't really know what these words mean.
Thanks.

Nazi Ss Motorcycle Helmets.
2011-11-02 02:29:22
On three separate occasions during the last year or so I have seen farangs in Phuket wearing WWII helmets with either the Nazi swastika and/or the "SS" symbol. One even had the Nazi coat of arms, or Reichsadler on the front. Seeing a Thai biker wearing a WWII helmet with swastika is not uncommon in Thailand. For some reason I find that less surprising. Swastika tattoos are popular with Thai's. These are certainly not neo-Nazi's but rather just Thai's that like the Buddhist symbol which predates Nazi Germany by hundreds of years. These helmets I see farang wearing are not WWII era, but rather purpose built replicas. I just can't think of a reason someone who fully understands the meanings and associations would be motivated to wear these around in public. To me wearing the military garb of a regime responsible for the systematic extermination of jews, gypsys, homosexuals, handicapped, mentally ill, and political dissidents tells me that they are either ignorant, immature, an insensitive asshol_e, or a white supremacist neo-Nazi.

Sunblock Question.
2011-10-28 17:03:56
I understand that not all sunblocks are created equal. I will be working at high altitudes soon and will be in the sun frequently. The skin on my face is already showing some sun damage. I found this sun block for sale at Watsons the other day and I would like to know if it is going to give me the best protection, assuming the labeling is correct. I have never seen this sunblock before, and it is half the price of the competitors. It seems kind of generic. Is there better protection? I'd like to know what some of the terminology used means.

Thanks in advance.
