Can anyone help with this query.
I'm about to buy a condo but have not yet sent the funds over to Thailand. I understand that to obtain a Foreign Exchange Certificate I need to trandfer in excess if $50,000.
Howver the maximim my bank permits in one single 'online transaction' is £25,000 ($40,000).
So to buy the condo I would have to make several transactions non greater than $40,000 and hence non would get the necessay Foreign Exchange Cert to register the condo.
Can anyone advise - is there a way around this (consolidated FETC for several transactions)!
or would ANother certificate be accepted by the land office?
Or is the only solution to do a hard copy request to send more than $50K at my UK bank? (ie a trip home to make the transfer).
Or of course anything else I have not thought of.
Thanks in advance of your experience.

One of the more popular posters has gone missing - his account market as nolonger active. So has he resigned? Left this mortal world or 'been retired'?
Stove Enamel - Renovation
2012-03-28 19:58:23
I'm in the process of renovating one of my old racing bikes - A made to measure Raleigh 753 Team Frame (Made for me by Gerald O'Donavan at Ilkeston back in the day).
Appart from immense sentimental value ( this is one of the bikes I rode during my racing career) it is also quite cash valuable - So I don't want my renovation to be botched or the frame to go missing.
Can anyone recommend someone in Thailand who can do a good Stove Enamel paint job.
My team colours were simple Oxford Blue with white transfers - I've managed to get a new set of transfers made, now all I need is the paint job.
Well that and a few items which I'm buying on ebay - £41 for rubber hoods for Campagnolo Brake Levers - ouch!

I'm imagining that Andrew Drummond was grinning like a cheshire cat as he wrote up his latest report on the Pattaya Times.

Qrops - Fees
2012-03-04 22:42:34
Out of curiosity, and because these things are not transparent.
For those of you who have set up a QROPS or have received a quotation for a QROPS, what are the annual management fees you are being charged/quoted?
A recent quote I received was for a management fee of 1.8% of the invested fund per year for the first 8 years.
That equates or over 14% of the invested fund, of if you have a reasonable fund of 250K then 36K will disappear in fees.
So what are others being charged/quoted?
