THe OP needs to go see an immigration lawyer. Filing a adjustment of status if your wife is on a tourist visa can be real problem.

My money is on that these charges will be dropped especially as Miss Yingluk is currently in Australia trying to encourage investment and Australian business in Thailand. Had it of been another time then the charges may stay. The timing is not good at the moment. A political hot potatoe that will be dropped faster than a rat up an aquaduct.
The timing of this coming out, not the charges or the arrest, is what is interesting. The meeting took place last November and I assume charges were filed within a short time after that. Ms Florence was arrested and bailed out on May 5th, almost 4 weeks ago. Ms Florence is not the one who let this out, The article clearly states she was handilng this quitetly with her Thai lawyers.
It does make you wonder who called the reporters.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said she did not attend the ceremony held yesterday to present compensation to victims of political unrest, because she was tending to business outside Bangkok, and not because she was trying to avoid legal responsibility that comes with the payment as widely speculated.
When the government hands out the cheques, when Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit presides over the ceremony, how would the PM staying away avoid her (government's) responsability?
Because she did not chair the cabinet meeting the approved it and did not participate in the handing out of the money. In Thai politics that is the equivalent of plausible deniability.

Finally??
There are segments of the UDD that wanted to see Thaksin imprisoned, dead or banished.
I've been saying this since the start; The Redshirts were a coalition of divergent views that were able to unite when there was a common "enemy". Now that the military junta and its puppet government under Abhisit was removed at the polls, the various factions have lost their common purpose. Some TVFers would be surprised by the animosity that some Redshirts have for Thaksin. The only reason they would not support the Democrats is because they felt that the Democrats were part of the problem and oblivious to the needs of the poor. It is much easier to stereotype the redshirts as ignorant rural folk, but there are many educated honest members, a great many of whom are opposed to corruption.

You keep saying that over and over, but never explain why when there is any UDD gathering in Bangkok or upcountry Thaksin's picture and paraphernalia is all over the place? Why is he the key note speaker and major draw for any large gathering?
The anti-Thaksin, or even the apathetic towards Thaksin factions are a small minority of the support. Agreed, some of the small factions such as Sombat are not Thaksin fans, but they have rode the coattails to draw supporters.
Virtually all the major and local leadership with a popular following are hack politicians.Do you think Jatuporn and Natuwat are going to go against Thaiksin? Who will the UDD unite behind? Tilda? Weng?
Nothing to do but wait and see how this plays out over the next year but I believe that without Thaksin the UDD will become marginalized and will be seen as a minor radical organization with little political weight.

..... Most governments worked that out ages ago and got rid of their stakes in national airlines.
Actually there are few countries in the world that don't have stakes in one or more airlines.
Amazing list..
