I applied for my girlfriend. She went crazy saying I was doing it wrong because all her friends told her if she didn't go through an agency she would not get a visa. She said I was ruining her chance of visiting the UK. But I insisted we just put the papers in ourself. She never even got asked for an interview and the visa was granted within a few days.

Don't forget to try out Apple Bar, it's located on Soi Chaiyaphuk. Go along beach road to the 2nd police box then turn left. You will see it under the 4 metre high illuminated dancing lady, on the left hand side.

Has a good friendly crowd, low drink prices, pool and darts, music not too loud, 3 rooms and two bars. Also has a good range of Cider on sale.

Nice girls but not at all pushy.

Yes that's right. The police are having a huge crackdown in the Jomtien area. Any bar open after 1am is being heavily fined and closed down for a time. I get very annoyed closing my bar dead on 1am and then on my way home seeing all the Thai owned places (Karaoeke etc) blasting music out, people drinking, loads of girls sitting outside etc and police just cruising past them doing nothing. Guesse they don't have enough money to pay the fines so they are ignored. Or is it one law for the Farang and another for the Thai.
