In Topic: Buying A Kindle In Chiang Mai?

2012-05-08 06:03:38

You buy the Kindle online, direct from Amazon & it arrives in about one week. The B&N Nook is not available outside the U.S. and Sony do not sell their e-reader in Thailand and will not support/service one that is bought in another country. My Kindle is two years old & I use it daily to read newspapers, magazines and books. In this wet weather it is particularly convenient, as it is at all times. I have had no problems with carrying my Kindle all over the world & if you get the 3G + wi-fi model you can download items anywhere any time. The best thing I have bought in years.

Why spend such an exorbitant amount on a capsule machine and be locked into buying very expensive coffee?  They're convenient, I know, but ideally suited to multiple-user locales, eg: the office, where no-one likes to make noise grinding, and mess cleaning out used grounds.

A basic Krups espresso/cappucino machine can be bought for ~ 10k Bt and you can choose any brand of coffee beans at the local Supermarket.

I guess it is horses for courses, freedom of choice etc. I switched form having the classic kind of machine to a Cremesso capsule machine a while back. THB 11000 from Boncafe and the capsules are a bit less expensive too. What I like apart froonm the choice of many different blends is the convenience an lack of need to clear away spent grounds etc. It is my choice to spend my money  what I like so please don't knock it

Here in Meechok I cannot use either of my mobile, cannot log onto their e-service on their website (apparently I do not exist!!!), & cannot contact their Call Centre. The signal is good but everything is essentially dead. The only answer is to have a Gin & Tonic.Posted Image

At Rimping Meechok I found Hapico brand bacon & dry cured ham at very good prices and actually more tasty & less pumped up with fluid than more expensive brands. They frequently go out of stock for a few days but as they are a local brand this is only temporary.

In Topic: From Europe To Chiang Mai Via Bangkok

Sorry Winnie, you are not correct.

If you are flying international TG to domestic TG, Star Alliance international to domestic TG, an international airline with an interline with TG, Bangkok Air international to Bangkok Air domestic, an international airline with a codeshare or interline agreement with Bangkok Air domestic you still do Immigration in Bkk, but at a separate area adjacent to Terminals A & B and collect your bags at International in CNX. As an international transit passenger you then complete Customs in Chiang Mai.

If you are flying any airline that is NOT Star Alliance or in a codeshare or interline agreement with TG or PG you do immigration in the main area in SUV, collect your bags there too, go up to domestic check-in and get you boarding passes & check- in your bags to be collected in domestic in CNX, because you are a now domestic passenger.

The only time you will go through Immigration at CNX is if you arrive on an intenational flight that has not landed at SUV.

Some years ago it was possible to arrive at SUV and hot transit to CNX where you did Immigration, but this was stopped as it was too easy for pax without checked baggage to slip though domestic & avoid any Immigration check.
