If you do it in Thailand, no background check is necessary.   Also you may want to have your record expunged/pardoned, in the U.K.

Police cautions in the UK are only on record for 1 year anyway.

Like I said the process is taken care of in Khorat but the approval is granted in Bangkok. Even those of us who use Khorat Immigration have to wait for upto 30 days while approval is received from Bangkok.

If you have a multiple entry non-b visa you can leave and re-enter as many times as you want getting a 90 days each time. Your trips would not affect your visa but they could be a problem for your work permit since it will be dated to match your 90 day entries unless they give you one valid for a year.

Work permits are no longer tied to visas or extensions. A work permit will be issued up to the date of work contract.

If the contract is dated for one year the work permit will be too.

I know that mine are approved in Korat and had it explained to me an immigration officer in Phibun. Once when I went in for report back date and it was not done yet the officer called Korat to find out if it was done yet. I have also seen a faxed document from Korat to various immigration offices with approvals that they had made when I got my final stamp.
.
Indeed it will always be Khorat that is contacted as that is where the application was submitted. It is indeed Khorat that give the approval. Approval is, however, granted in Bangkok. For marraige extentions that is.

I really cannot see how this can benefit teachers that are already teaching anyway. Assuming that someone is already on a waiver. They have maximum 2 years to complete a degree course before their next waiver is due.

This course takes 3 years.

As far as I was aware the TCT rules now are no degree no waiver.
