Ubon Hash will run this Saturday, 2nd June starting from the car park at the very top end of the big reservoir in Eastern Ubon (sorry the name of the reservoir escapes me). The hare will be Flash Git.
Stop by The Wrong Way bar/restaurant in central Ubon, Padaeng Road at 4.00pm if you want a lift. Its 4.15pm if you are turning up at the run site. I haven't recced it yet, but I'm sure I can find another good trail from this popular running area - and of course a beer stop along the way.
Everyone welcome - a good walk on the outskirts is not as strenuous as hashing might sound. Runners catered for too!
PM me if you need more guidance.

Poor Customer Service Experience With Lenovo
2012-05-24 18:13:16
My G470 appears not to have wireless internet capability. My first task was to confirm this. I tried to download the User instruction manual (on 2 seperate occasions 3 days apart): the link is bust.
I contacted the Thailand helpdesk, having established that my system is still in warranty. I held on for 2 half hour periods unsuccessfully.
I noticed a driver for Intel wifi software on the product support pages. I had no idea whether this would help (I suspect it needs more than a piece of software and that I must purchase a wi-fi adapter, but my above attempts to get help have proved fruitless). So I tried that anyway - clicking on the link brought up a dialogue box in Chinese. I don't read Chinese and could not navigate around it.
Hopeless. This is a second machine for a family member. My first system is X-series and I have used these at home and work for nearly two decades and sung Lenovo's praises on websites. Never again (recommendations or purchases). I shall now publish this message on a Thai expatriates web-site to see if I can get any input there.
I left this on Lenovo's customer service survey. But can anyone help with the question?

Finnair, Austrian Or Lufthansa - Uk (Or Eu) To Bangkok - Any Observations?
2012-05-23 13:11:07
I fly regularly from the UK (Manchester for the last 18 months) to Bangkok. For the last 4 years the cheapest of the decent airlines has been one of EVA or the Middle East airlines.
I have been looking for a flight coming out here on 24 July from Manchester (yes - I know - school holidays make this a crazy time on pricing, but I cant come any earlier) and going back on 24 September; give or tale a couple of days. I find that three of the Continental European airlines are popping up in my hunt as substantially cheaper (around GBP 750) than the usual big 3 Arabs (Qatar/Emirates/Etihad). I'm quite happy about that as all three would give me a nice long overnight sleep, which I miss when a desert-people-processing-factory is placed halfway in my itinerary.
Its the first time that the continental flag carriers have come up as competitive on price in over 50 return flights between the UK and here. Shows how far the Middle East airlines have come I think (or is it some Arabian holiday period?). Perhaps it also shows the desperate state of non-German European economies.
Does anyone have any comments on good or bad, based on recent (say last two years) experience, of Finnair, Austrian or Lufthansa. Some of the connection times are very tight (30 minutes in the case of Austrian on one leg) but I know that airlines generally manage these if you are booked through - but maybe you know different?!
[Thanks - but I dont need you all to find me a cheaper flight from LHR - that costs me a lot more to get to in cash and time and I dislike that airport, so I add 100 quid to the cash cost of any LHR flight when comparing it to one from user-friendly Manchester].

Optimal Bts Station To Get A Taxi To Suvarnabhumi?
2012-04-19 13:36:39
I am travelling from my condo near On Nut BTS station to Swampy at 6:30pm tonight. I'm normally a public transport freak, but the MTS is up the spout today. Outside rush hour I would simply get a taxi all the way and maybe with my easy access to Bang-Na/Ram Inthra highway I will do that anyway (20 minutes and 90 baht taxi + 55 baht tolls last night coming into On Nut - outstanding, but hair raising as usual and eco-unsound).
But out of interest, does anyone have the lowdown on which BTS station between (and including) On Nut and Bearing is optimal for travel time/availability of hovering taxis.
[Have searched the forum, I'm sure this has been adressed but can't find the right combination of key words]
