Funny how no one seems to have picked up on the "lady market" comment. She wasn't talking about a place where ladies shop, more likely a place where they're sold.

I would wager that if you asked westerners, that have never even been to Asia, to name the top 5 things that come to mind regarding Thailand that prostitution and counterfeit goods would be in there more often than not.

I guess we are supposed to ignore those things that are shoved down our throats, and prostrate ourselves before the miracle that is Thailand. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I do believe that the mention of 'lady market' is a reference to a market in Hong Kong that sells items that are preferred by ............er, ladies.

She was in HK earlier this month, so maybe that is a clue!!

Ah, no. If you'll go back and read the original tweet, which this whole thread is based on, you will see that she was most definitely referring to BKK. And as for the hockey about "items preferred by......er, ladies", not sure about your command of English but I believe that by saying "lady market" she was refering to a place where ladies are sold. Like a fish market. Don't be thick. But thanks for proving my original point.

I also believe, having visited this particular market, that the 'lady market' in Hong Kong also sells items of a counterfeit nature. Similar, in fact, to the rolexes noted in the aforementioned tweet.

Sounds like another clue to me........

LOL. Correct.....as anyone that has ever been to HK will know, when you say you want to buy goods from a lady's market it means "flea market" - mostly the goods on offer are presents you would take home for your mum or gf or wife and they're are also mainly female shoppers....so it's a "lady's market" no matter which way you look at it. Apart from in the way the poster "chickin" looks at it!! I don't think he/she has ever been to HK.

For all those that are saying that Lady Gaga is shit....we're just too old. Our kids love her to bits....and when they grow up the artists that their kids like will be shit.....etc etc....

In Topic: New Deportation Condition Changes!

Previously It could be arranged for British nationals to be deported to a place for which you have no right of entry refusal as in Hong Kong.

That has now changed! If you are arrested or voluntarily surrender to immigration even after 5 days overstay expect to be deported to your country of origin.

Just thinking about it I realised that I had not told the forum about this change in policy.

What happens if you have permanent residency in another country not of your origin? I have a permanent HKID, green card, British and Philippines passport......don't ask me why....I just do! Where will they deport me to? Not everything is black and white.....money will still talk in the Land of Smiles....I'm sure the overstayers will be fine.

Surely it's not the queue's that are annoying? It's the fact that the free wifi lasts only 15 minutes and you have to go get a password and login and a Burger King go large meal costs 300thb. 300!!!! That's like 10 USD. 10 USD!!! Didn't know burgers was a luxury good.

Why not just give people free wifi like they do in HK, Singapore, Beijing, Manila (on the odd occassion that it does work) - it's ridiculous we're in 2012 and there's no free airport wifi.

I actually left today and found it ok, the immigration 3 was backed up to like the check in desks so I went to the immigration 2 and it seemed fine, single file spray queueing and the officers were stamping people out quicker than I have seen them before. Maybe they are under orders to do so.

I actually quite like SVB airport overall, great design and always see loads of pretty thai girls with their older meal tickets out of the country. Management need to sort a few things out and it should be fine on par with HK and Singapore.

CHILD PORN: It's my mind and my "right" to see what I want. Viewing child porn is not the same as making/selling it. If I only have 999 megabyte of child porn videos on my computer, it's personal use. What harm is there in my using it? A gig of child porn means dealing right?

Umm....one is abusing kids or has involved the process of abusing them......the other is abusing your own body that doesn't involve asking a kid to take his/her clothes off so pics can be taken for someone else to view them. Slight difference there I think :-)

Plus - he's a rock star, he has to take drugs to aid the creative process.

I only have a 30 day visa waiver stamp.....but have a lot of them.....and managed to open 2 personal accounts and one joint account.

If they are seemingly rejecting you, all you have to do is say "I double checked on the internet and on your website and it says I don't need a visa". They will then double check with their supervisor or call somewhere else to confirm and you will be able to open one, trust me.

But getting your cards to work online and to get internet banking is a different matter.
