It appears that all the evidence is litually being sweeped under the carpet, or in this case, descretely cleared away. The name of the game is, out of sight, out of mind and than forgotten.

Was there ever a thorough investigation? Did the foreign offices of the national’s concerned pressure the Thai authorities to conduct an investigation? Has anyone been brought to book over this? Have any of the victims families received justice? Somehow I doubt it.

This is all about cover-ups and what’s bad for business. Not many would want to stay in a hotel where a multitude of guests have died, so better to knock it down and start again, perhaps by the same outfit that owned the Downtown Inn?

Lots of questions with little or no answers, extremely tragic and sad for the innocent victims and their families, who have lost loved ones with no chance of receiving compensation or any answers as to why and how.

A totally disgusting state of affairs.

Your post is disgusting. They have had a final report. It included help from the World Health Organization and has posted several times already

The sign out front says it is to be torn down and replaced in two to three years.

On the contrary I find your post most offensive! The whole affair is a whitewash, but there again we are in Thailand....

Ya modernize the hill tribe sites so the tourists can see the real hill tribe villages. As far as the cable car goes I think it would be a good idea. The advertizing in foreign countries would really eat that up.

Take a cable car up the mountain to visit the ancient temple of Doi Souket. Haven't a clue if I spell it rite but I am sure some spelling police man will let me know. LOL

With the added risk of a crash too, which  killed how many tourists last time? The time before was only  a handful and hardly worth mentioning!!!!
The temple of Doi Suthep is one of Chiang Mai's most visited landmarks that were until a couple of years ago, when tragedy struck. The cable pulling the small funicular train up the hill from the road to the temple and controlled its descent snapped sending it crashing down the hill resulting in many injuries.

What do you mean "many injuries"? 3 people were killed!! or was that the time before? The thing should be dismantled!!

I understand that this is just a bit of gallows humor, etc.
Hate to be the heavy here, but in addition to uptheo's comment...I don't know if anyone would want to wrestle with the owners of the property.
They are very well connected, if you catch my drift.
I think their is a set of laws that covers the ultimate owner. Talk in Parliament about changing them.

The Empress chain goes all the way to the "top" Enough said I think!!!

What garuntee are you posting against any damages? Do you require any furnishings? What about a resort bungalow on the edge of the city?
