Guys like this think it's 1912 and the British Empire is alive and well and that they can push around the "natives" or create their own rules.

Is there not a thread with the news articles only so we don't have to trawl through pages and pages of complete rubbish, like the above.

P.S You do know that the Irish are not British don't you?

Sums up the intelligence of some on here. Was going to comment too but it's like pi**ing in the wind mate!

What are you bleating about now? He's an Irish IT Teacher, as you well know. After all,  you've been stalking this thread 24-7.

I stand corrected as I thought he was teaching English in Thailand.  Not that it makes any real bearing on anything within the post you are referring but do appreciate your enlightening me even  though you chose to do it in a non-adult fashion.

When you display some adult thoughts and logic I will treat you accordingly..........deal?

In what country is it alright to disregard public transit rules and do whatever you want? His balloons could have been filled with ricin for all we knew. Guys like this think it's 1912 and the British Empire is alive and well and that they can push around the "natives" or create their own rules. Then they act all surprised when security does what it's supposed to do and they hit the brick wall of authority.

It's not like he wasn't given a perfectly reasonable opportunity to give up those balloons which were probably a whole 30 baht to purchase.

Every time i've been on the BTS or MRT the personnel have always been reasonable and not rude at all.

I'd say this is the foreigners fault for sure.

Oh g*d....WMD's in childrens balloons....mate, Did you bypass your meds cabinet this morning ?

If you are so sure it was the foreigners faults.....

Why havent the police charged him with anything ? even a minor charge of vandalism for putting the trash bin in ICU
Why have the BTS company come out and publically apologised (and even sent flowers) to the guy concerned ?
Why have the BTS company fired the guard concerned ?

Anyone using common sense and not making this into an emotional issue knows the guy was without doubt in the wrong. Does this mean security wasn't also wrong, of course not and that should be obvious unless you are getting too emotional over this and/or making this a Thai vs. farang issue. But what we currently have is a video of a guy acting in an illegal, violent and inexcusable fashion. There is nothing that anyone has offered (including the foreigner) that could have happened prior to this tape rolling that can justify his actions on this tape from forcing his way into the station to assaulting non-threatening staff and creating a disturbance for all other passengers on the train and likely scaring the poop out of his daughter and other kids in the area and of course causing himself lasting repercussions and embarrassment all of which could have been avoided if he simply followed the rules of the transit station when told of them and did was 99.99% of civilized society would do and comply with the rules.

I am sorry this incident happened too and am sorry the guy got hurt, I guess now I am at fault. The guard(s) have not been arrested so I guess they are not at fault. The guy said he did wrong and should have acted differently, I guess that makes him 100% at fault and responsible for what happened.  Do you see how silly this sounds?

In this day and age it certainly can be a danger having loud bangs aboard a crowded train or on a crowded platform next to oncoming trains numerous stories above the ground. Have you considered airlines don't allow balloons on planes? But again, this is a absolute moot point because the rules to ride the BTS are the rules and if you cannot obey them don't ride. If the rules say no guns or no gum then you obey the rules.

I am really baffled how anyone can be seen as credible and not have an agenda when they cannot agree with these simple civilized, legal and sociably expected things.

PS. I believe the flowers were sent in behalf of the little girl and the BTS has also tried to blame this on lack of english communication skills by their staff but this Thai English teacher has already made clear he understood the guard when they told him the rule. This, along with having been on the train earlier with the balloons, is what set off his initial outburst.

Lets not try fault or blame BTS for their handling of the situation or see it as an admission of complete guilt in the aftermath as it has been nothing less but a stand up response.

Also, keep in mind this guy refused to file charges against the guards and said he doesn't want any of them fired. He only wants to go after the company(s). Should we read into that that the guards did absolutely nothing wrong? Of course not.

WoW I can't believe how many people have posted about this subject since I last looked. What is hard to take in is the amount of horrible comments still coming in about the father. He has been on TV and said he made mistakes, but didn't deserve the beating he got. He wants people to see the cctv so they can judge for them selves. Have the BTS or the poor little soldier done this? No, they want to say sorry and hope it goes away.

I can't believe people still commenting on the youtube video as we know it shows nothing really. Do these people read the initial post? For the people who are too lazy too look, the youtube starts after he has had a beating. I can't believe people are disgusted in the way he is acting. Imagine you just got hit around the head with a metal detector, hmm ??? Maybe a little concussed? Confused? Angry? How would you react?

I think people on this site need to get a grip! Facts are coming out if you like them or not. If you keep writing nonsense in the days to come you will just look stupid and a racist. This is not about thai v's farang, but a clear misunderstanding that went wrong. When the cctv is out we can all see for our selves.

Oh please please can the bells stop putting technical information up about explosive gases,  a six year old told me today it was obviously air!!!

Edit- maybe I'm not being objective enough, in thinking the letter was written by a Thai or is legit- sorry, it's late.  I'll try to do better..

We will never know and it really is not the least bit relevant as one unknown online posters person's opinion doesn't represent the views of any society. However it is curious.

But the more I look at that letter it seem apparent it is somebody trying to stir things up. There is too much knowledgeable grammar and vocabulary in the post to then have what looks like purposeful edits to not look like a fluent English speaker.

writer knows the differnance between then vs. than - its vs it's - 's to show possession and a number of things including phrases and words to not understand the basic writing mistakes in the letter to make it sound like typical broken English in some places.

Sorry to shatter your illusion going on in your little ole head). This is written below the letter:

Your Pissed Thais

The jist of it is that he wants to express that he and other Thais are 'pissed' about this affair. Still a foreigners mischief making?
