Which is exactly what this is about, isn't it - you've been told Thaksinomics is bad but when you're told it's not and in fact he had a couple of years of budget surplus, because Thaksin is behind it, it can't be true.  #29 phiphidon

"Interestingly, the urban population did not show any resistance to the military intervention". With their history are you really suprised?

No matter how many blog sites you quote, (Bangkok pundit, Thailand post blog spot) that hobble obscure quotes together to substantiate their misleading assumptions that Thaksinomics stimulates an economy into surplus.  I checked every citation in the Bangkok pundits blog and coudn't find one that is still active.  I personaly would be embarrassed to use that blog to repudiate the facts contained in the Nation article and verified in the Bangkok Post article.
In conclusion I dont believe that Thakinomics, whether instituted by Thaksin or by Yingluck, is a valid finacial strategy for any economy.  Thaksinomics isnt about budget surpluses its about populist spending to maintain suport as his governments corrupts the countries finances into a massive deficit.  As the topic says "Budget Is All About Plundering For A Spending Spree:".

"As the topic says "Budget Is All About Plundering For A Spending Spree:"."

Would that include the nearly 800Billion THB deficit under 2 years of the Abhisit government, too, or is this just dogmati-conomics?

But the democrats. boring. Anyhow you agree I understand.

In Topic: Problems Loom In Wake Of Sacking At THAI

The President and Chairman of a company answer to the Board of Directors. It is called corporate governance. Senior executives  get sacked on a regular basis.  There are times when the the executive refuses to follow the guidance of the board. In such cases, the  executive  gets sacked. The board is privy to inside information in respect to the conduct and behaviour of an executive and often  the information is not made public for some very good reasons. An example of this can be conflict of interest allegations.

And before anyone starts finger pointing at political interference, keep in mind that the  dispute is allegedly the result of the executive not accepting that the  government of Thailand has some say in the purchase of a  multibillion baht equipment order. Keep in mind  that it is the Thai government that guarantees the financial stability of Thai Airways and it is the Thai government that provides the indirect subsidies and that  provides  the preferred  treatment of Thai Airays operations.

Also keep in mind that the board of directors is comprised of several people closely associated with the heavy hitters in the Democrat party and several of whom served under both the previous  Democrat administration and the previous military junta. It is easy to point a finger at the current government,  but the  board of directors are hardly PTP loyalists. For example, is anyone really going to make the case that Dheerasak Suwannayos the MD and President of Thailand's Islamic Bank is a backer of the PTP, particularly when  the muslim population of the South are strong supporters of the Democrats? How about Apiporn Pasawat? He is employed by entities that come under the Royal Household investments.   I suggest that people consult the  biographies of the  BOD. These are not incompetents and are drawn from Thailand's business elite. Some of the BOD are well versed in corporate governance and understand concepts such as conflicts of interest.
The great defender, boring.

All these insurances look great until you need expensive outpatient care for cancer. It's all in patient cover and that is most of the time very cheap here, especially if you can choose the hospital. A private room in Sriphat hospital in Chiang Mai starts at 900 THB a day and ICU is only 3000 THB a day.
Cancer medicine can be as expensive as 300000 THB a month easily.
Careful with AIA, often they give you a package, life and health insurance, which you don't need. Good business for the agents, why do you think that they take you out for a diner?
You can add outpatient as an option with BUPA.
Some OP  procedures are covered in some of the AIA policies (Such as endescope that can set you back 20k + 0

Look carefully, you probably will see a maximum of a few thousand THB for outpatient. Not worth it.
