I have a funny feeling Andy Carroll might be one of the few English plus points to come out of this tournament
think you could be right, he had a good back end to the season and is showing some form. do though also think that with hodgson's tactics he could end up really isolated with lots of long balls pinged up at him.

I just hope there is some attractive stuff played this time around. It is supposed to be entertainment first and foremost...some countries seem to have forgotten that!

no it isn't. Posted Image

If your wife is an intelligent knowledgeable educated independent woman capable of managing on her own, then you have my sympathies God bless.

If your partner is stupid unknowledgeable uneducated and reliant on you for survival, then you have my sympathies.

Was over Chaweng way this morning, with an "up to you" as to where we go after we'd finished what we were there for, so I thought I'd see if Sweeney Todd's breakfast lived up to the hype...

It does.

I went for the Set 5 Mega: 2 eggs, 2 rashers of pretty nice bacon, 2 pretty nice sausages, 2 hash browns, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, and two slices of toast; a large coffee and an OJ.

I was a bit disconcerted when it first arrived, as the sausages looked burnt to a crisp; fortunately, it was only caramelisation, and they were delicious. In fact, I'll say the whole breakfast was delicious! And for 290 ฿, I'd say it's pretty good value too.

Sure, there were a few changes that could make it top notch - such as a real espresso coffee, and good bread (not white sandwich loaf) - but complaining about those would be just nitpicking what really was an enjoyable breakfast! I'd definitely call it the best English breakfast I've had in my nine months on Samui. Mr Sweeney, you've done it again.

#5342939 Which Place In Thailand Holds The Best Memories For You?

Posted kwonitoy on Yesterday, 18:58

Greenworld Golf Resort about 100kms north of Kanchaburi, 30km south of Tong Pa Phum,

I stayed there for 8 months during 1996/97 while working on the Yadana pipeline, with my new GF, later to be my wife.

It was on this job that I got the photo that's my avatar, A young elephant fell into the ditch in the night and when we came in the morning he was walking on top of the pipe trying to get out. He did eventually and ran off into the bush.

Monday to Friday the whole resort was vacant with just us and a bunch of bored staff, we had a room overlooking the River Kwai, and the mountain's in the distance and so quiet it was unbeleaveable. I'd wake up in the morning go to the office and do my thing and then come back for lunch, pick up the GF and then do a drive thru on the construction and back by sundown. And they paid me for this!!!

Friday evening the place would fill up for the weekend with golfers from Bangkok and sunday evening it was back to being our private resort.

We stayed so long the owner told the gf that it was ok for me to use in his private parking spot next to the front door during the week. So during the week it had a 4WD Izuzu, usually dripping mud, parked and on the weekend a very high end sports car

After we were married for some years we took a trip back and rented the same room we had stayed in for 8 months. A drive up to the mountains to Ban E Tong, and Three Pagoda Pass, on the border completed the trip down memory lane

I think we'll go back next year if it's still open with our new son and show him around

Ken

Hoolywood Royale. Spent many nights there till the sun came up, and would then go over to Took Lai Dee for a cheap breakfast.

Sadly, has had a name change, and is no longer such a great place as it used to be- quite boring the last time I went.

I keep the pic on my laptop and drool every once in a while....but I'm willing to undertake a special fact finding mission with you.

Mind...you will be expected to fast for three days beforehand! Such missions are not to be undertaken lightly....Posted Image

Lady walked into the above chippie and ordered a very large portion of Cod (nice and fluffy) with chips.

The owner replied " Sorry madam, but we have no Cod today"

Lady "It is my birthday today and I would like to have one please." Posted Image

Owner "Lady please take the P out of Placie and what do you have"?

Lady "oh, well Lace"

Owner "now take the S out of Skate and what do you have"?

Lady " ahh, Kate"

Owner "Correct and now take the F out of Cod and waht do you get"

Lady " ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh there is no F in Cod"

Owner "Told you so"

This guy seems to be taking the piss about who he is signing for,i am hopeful now that it isn't United.

Way to much self publicity for a start and whichever club it is will have there hands full with his i am special attitude.

Very disappointing how any of the three clubs involved would let him take the piss like he has done, still we will know soon enough which club is the lucky pick!!! Posted Image

Breaking News: Eden Hazard has failed his medical at Chelsea. They couldn't fit his head through the door.

First trip with my wife to Thailand we went to Mae Hong Son and we spent part of one day hiking  up to a waterfall  two of the friendliest dogs from the resort followed us up and back, They seemed to be very protective as I went off trail while my wife walked ahead,  one of the dogs stayed with me while the other went along with my wife. Best experience of all my  time in Thailand was those days spent in Mae Hong Son.

#5340636 Positive Stories On How Your Family Reacted On You Taking A Foreign Partner...

Posted theblether on Yesterday, 00:03

Incidentally my Dad is returning to Thailand this year specifically to thank the hospital staff, and hotel staff for their kindness.

Among all the Thai bashing that goes on in this forum we should take the time to recognize that positive stories occur every single day in Thailand too. Thais running down the street to give you your mobile phone back, or wallet back that you have left in a restaurant. ( it's happend to me and others ), I've seen Thais on their knees attending to farang accident victims, I've seen them go the extra mile to make sure that tourists don't get lost, are safely looked after etc etc. I've seen Thais pick up my broken down motorcycle and throw it in the back of a pick up truck and drop it at the local garage for repair, without being asked, and refusing payment.

I find Thailand to be a country full of small acts of kindness every day. Posted Image

Mine was Pattaya also. My friend had been coming to Thailand for holidays since the 90's and always kept on at me to join him, but I was always in relationships.

Anyway he finally decides to get married and so I have to come for the wedding. Current G/F ditched (not serious) and we're off to Pattaya for the stag do.

I have been to a few places of ill-repute during my navy days but nothing compared to driving up 2nd road and then turning down Soi 2 to the Sabai Lodge what an eye opener Posted Image  had a fantastic 2 weeks and it took me a while to get Pattaya out of me system.

Friend and his wife are still going strong 7 years later

My Father was already in Thailand and I actually met my wife 's family through my father so I had  no bothers there.

My Mother was a different ball game, she was exceptionally worried for her "wee boy" but  given given time and Skype , telephone calls etc she as well as my siblings have grown to love my wife.

Good to have your positive stories and how you managed to over come any hurdles.

Well that's quite of a solace if you've lost all of your possessions, like there are sooo many reports about on this forum and anywhere else, never looked at it that way.

Ah, it only took eight pages for the unhappy vocal few to turn up and trip trap over the happy stories in here! Why don't you go to and join in any of those posts then, and leave us happy folk alone! Posted Image

I have enjoyed this thread, I was actually hoping that "happiness" was contagious.

my life revolves around my wife of almost 6 years, she is honest, thrifty, sensible and the reason i am financially better off now than ever before in my life.
i followed her fathers lead and that of my own father and let the wife, run the house, bills etc.

cultural misunderstandings occour, but all can usually be resolved fairly quickly.

as said before, my life revolves around her, she is just wonderful, and slightly off topic so is her immediate family.
