In Topic: Phuket Police Launch Manhunt For Three Foreigners In Bt30M Jewelry Heist

So police turned up within 10 minutes. Bet if there was some violent altercation rather than 30 million involved they would probably been somewhat slower to ensuring all the shooting had finished. Amazing how money focuses the mind.

Well there is low risk that the Thais will buy houses in the European mountains till the Europeans can't finance to buy land themself.
But there is the risk that rich foreigner buy all nice places in Thailand till the Thais can't buy any land anymore.
So it is necessary.

What utter codswallop. The wealthy Thais have more disposable income to buy all the best places first and also the contacts to do it. The law is there to protect the rich and wealthy here not to protect the poor and ensure they can buy property.

How can you get a loan against leased property?
It does seem to me that the OP wanted to protect his own security in all of these dealings. Meaning everything would be in his name if the relationship went sour.
The thing is though, women all over the world want security. If you enter into a LIFE where you are the boss, you have all the POWER and SECURITY - well that isnt a situation many women would be confortable with.
With my partner, I bought her a 2 million baht condo. OK i appreciate we are obviously not in the same economic class here. Small potatoes, but I could have put it in my name easily but decided not to. I do keep most of my assets, I admit more than half!, out of her reach but women do want security and they need it. Its the way they are made - man builds the nest for woman to lay her eggs.
Not saying its right though! Forging a document with a royal seal on it is a serious offence in Thailand. I hope you can come to some amicable agreement, perhaps the start of court proceedings might make her wake up a bit - then you could get a mediator. If you could get half the money back plus your kids.. or something like that would be a good outcome.
I admire your patience and calmness in this. Hope all works out well

Hi
Well you can't get a loan against a leased property. That is the point (partly) why the property did not have a lease on it - because the loan was taken against it first.
I take your point about women and security and it is a fair point except that I had already bought her land in her home town and as common law wife with kids she would have security through the law if push came to shove.
In any case she knew me well enough to know that if she wanted to split she would be well taken care of financially. She knew me well enough to know my outlook on life is to take care of the family. I seriously do not think it was an issue of lack of security but one of greed, ignorance and getting involved with many unscrupulous Thais who assisted, nay, encouraged her to keep on whilst shafting her themselves for their own selfish reasons and gleefully destroying me and the future of my Thai children with no moral qualm at all.
Then the false advice from lawyers, complete apathy from the police and general disinformation from nearly everyone when in a mentally disturbed state of having lost ALL your money and assets and facing a destroyed 10 year relationship, broken family and threats on your safety effectively almost destroyed me. The fact that lawyers in Phuket are so intricately connected with the mafia and intentionally involve themselves to further destroy you, take your money while acting for the mafia and not you and with no recourse since it is practically impossible to find a Thai lawyer who will sue another, and you have a recipe for unrestrained corruption through the legal system.
There is NOWHERE you can turn unless you chance upon someone who values their own status enough to take your money and refuse to be bribed by the other side in order to protect their own reputation.
For those on here who accept criminality as justified for the reason I am a foreigner who had tried to protect assets for my family rather than leave it all to the whim of a girl far less educated than me, for them I hope their attitude comes back to bite them.

Quite difficult to have a willingness for negotiation with ones' opposite, when that opposite is disdainful.
Thaksin don´t care about reconciliation, he don´t care about democracy.
http://www.thaivisa....is-not-my-goal/
Ha ha - excerpt - "Democracy is a vehicle," Thaksin said. "We can't drive a Rolls-Royce to a rural village and solve people's problems. A pickup truck or good off-road car will do. We just need to think carefully and make the right choices."
Maybe driving a Pink Bentley there might be possible?
