#5289155 Prem Accord Leaves The Red Shirts Simmering

Posted ianf on 2012-05-10 17:55:02

This is an interesting debate because it has been obvious to me since the red occupation of Bangkok that there is no core ideology to the red shirt movement. I have asked a few red shirts what they 'believe' in and they found this question hard to answer. By contrast you ask a communist about their ideology and they won't stop yabbering! I have to go back to a quote I have used before which comes from Mein Kampf (Hitler's opus): He wrote that you cannot move the masses through 'argumentation' (ie: policies) but through emotional 'manipulation'. If you want the exact quote please ask but for now (as I have to go and do some work for Mrs me) this will have to do. The fact that this was the tactic displayed during the red occupation is interesting because it allows one to draw parallels. The speeches from the red stage were aimed at an emotional level; I heard little, if anything, that could be called 'policy'. Indeed if I am wrong about this perhaps the red supporters on this board (who seem to have a monopoly on truth) could enlighten us all. Off course emotional manipulation at this level is a dangerous game and one that can easily get out of control if the leader doesn't understand the game in its entirety. I believe that we'll see the result of this (outcomes) over the next couple of years. The outcome will depend on what tack is chosen by the puppeteers who control the great red leader who in turn controls the clone. We'll see.

#5263887 Kathu Cable Tv Changed My Tv Channel

Hallo Shot,

you ask, quote: Why not ask on an open forum? unquote.

The answer is so simle that even you should have found it: Look at all the replies. Not a single one answered his question with name and address of the cable company.

Some (especially you!) even strayed from the original subject about the name of the cable company and tried (!) to change it into a thread for cost of cable TV.

You got it now finally?!

By the way, I am a bit surprised that the two of us are in an argument here. The original poster Merijn apparently has lost his interest in an answer long time ago. Maybe he found the name of the company meanwhile.

P.S. Thanks for using my own word. Even with 3 exclamation marks.

For me the matter is closed.

Who would want to deal with the red tape plus put up one million Baht deposit & then have to haggle over the refund? Coming into the dangerous season it is ludicrous that there is no lifeguard service attending the beaches. There are probably more than a few expat lifesavers residing here who would be willing to volunteer their services but then may face work permit issues. Perhaps they could employ a system like the volunteer tourist police to supplement any existing contracts & this would also help transfer of expert know how in lifesaving techniques.
Excellent idea and if there's nobody bidding then I see no reason why it should not be considered; a volunteer would not be doing a Thai out of a job. Surely public safety is that important that the usual work permit issues could be worked around............................if the right people wanted it.

I hate to say this but there are probably not enough brown envelopes involved for the OrBorJor to put this near the top of their priorities.

"The very people who are calling for reconciliation do not want to actually be reconciled with their enemies," said Wasant"

At least it has been shown by 'word and deed' who is interested in Reconciliation, and who is not. Those seeking what they cannot get via other means, such as elections, and when that doesn't work, take their 'ball and bat and go home'......... Just put it in a perspective of one-on-one..... If you were a Red Shirt, are you expected to seek reconciliation with a guy who looks down his arrogant nose at you, sees you as a lesser being with zero political sensibilities, a guy who stole your Govt. and beat the sh.. out of you when you objected. What would you say to a guy like that? I won't indicate what I would say to him, but I sure wouldn't bother with any reconcilaition stuff, that is for sure. Maybe I would say, "see ya at election time'.
Agreed.  What about all the PTP promises.  Like reconciliation is a priority, bringing Thaksin back is not?  Broken promise.  I feel sorry for the red shirts today.  Seriously.  They're being played and are just starting to figure this out.

If you were a yellow shirt, how can you seek reconciliation when your elected government does not follow through on their promises?  When the economy is doing badly, but everything is focused on one of the wealthiest people in the world.  Not on the poorer people in your country..  When your elected government officials drive around in Bentley's.  Looking down their nose at their fellow red shirts.

As for the riots, break the law and you're going to pay the price.  As they are doing now for burning and looting Bangkok.  That's the way it should be, right?  Elections were just around the corner, but their leaders didn't want to wait, so they had the poorest people in Thailand put their lives on the line, then ran when they told all of them not to.  Hard to call them leaders.

Problems are on both sides.  You're so one sided.
