I find this so interesting because my partner *does* expect me to move to Thailand and I'm currently weighing this up.  The thing I will miss the most is being close to my family and friends. The rest are insignificant in comparison.

I'd also suggest you're going about things in the wrong order.  Make a lot of friends first, then look for a nice girl.  If you're a good guy you won't even have to look, your friends will set you up with someone.  You could also do some volunteer work to fill in your day and make new contacts.  Good luck with it anyway.

How good are you at speaking Thai?

Also, are you a member of any sports clubs (apart from the gym you go to).

Maybe you do need a holiday back to your home country to remind you of all the reasons you left?

How could they understand?  Most of them have never lived outside of Thailand.
