How Do You Console A Distraught Thai Mother

2012-04-06 17:39:17

This is a Genuine Life story of a very Good friend of mine.

My Wife who is Thai herself, has a friend who always says that she suffers from bad karma, She moved to live in the UK with her English Husband over 12 years ago, They both work hard, About two years ago he was diagnosed with Cancer, He went through the test and it is Terminal. They have come to live with it and excepted that he will die in the not so distant future, But he still carry's on with life going to work when he can.

Her son came to the UK when he was 10, he is now 21 He has just finished collage, He use to put his arm around his mother and assure her he would take care of his Mam, When her Husband died, His dad. he  went back to Thailand last week to do his Thai army service. I posted a thread on this site, asking if any body knew if a Thai male had to return to Thailand to do military Service.  He had only been there a short while, when he was crossing the street a car hit him and killed him instantly. She has had him cremated in Thailand , Does bad karmer exist, it seems some people always get bad luck no matter how they try. All the Thai people in our area are thinking of her and want to help but Thais being Thais, they just leave alone and watch waiting to be asked if they can help, I just thought i would post this  as it gives an insite to Thai people living in the UK not always have a happy and prosperous life.

Ilr Visa, In The Uk, And Thai Army Enlistment.

2012-02-12 19:36:16

I am Not certain if this is the Correct section to ask this Question,

If a Thai male who came to the UK when he was 12, and has lived in the UK for the last 8 years (He is now 20),  and has Indefinite leave to remain in the UK,Does he have to return to Thailand and go through the Army selection process. I have been told as long as his name is still on the Blue book of his father who lives in Thailand, he still has to do it, would any one know if that is correct.

Missing Documents

2012-02-07 19:12:05

We have Just got back our Documents Submitted to the UK boarder Agency for The Wifes IDL to remain, which she has been granted,The thing is that when Submitting the application it has to be correct. and when you don't cross the T,s and dot the I,s you get a letter back from them asking you to correct the problem. We have just received  our documents back, Some are missing, photographs have not been returned, letters are missing , ESOL envelopes,  it seems a bit OK for them to make careless mistakes but not us. I am now in the process of writing them a letter asking them to correct there mistakes, Any one else had this problem.

Thai People In The Uk Learning To Read And Write

2012-01-18 19:59:17

Before I start if i have posted this in the wrong sections maybe the Mods can point me in the right direction to the Correct forum.

My wife has been in the UK for over 27 Months now, and we have applied for her IDL Visa, She now wants to learn more, She wants to learn her basic English, Reading and Writing. She can read very slowly, probably the same as a child of about 6/7. and she knows her alphabet, and can write to a point. if i tell her what to write she can do it , We seem to be going around in Circles,

When we ask about literacy courses at the Local Colleges or Education centers, all we get is, She wants ESOL, She has Acquired her level 1 and 2. to fit the criteria for her IDL Visa. There seems to be a lack of Classes for Basic English, (phonetics) unless i pay private, about £12 per Hour. I find it strange that the British Government want these people to integrate into British Society, yet there are no means for them to learn, The Question is does anyone know how, and where We can get some literacy lessons, and from where in the UK. any ideas would be appreciated,
