thanks everyone for the replies. i went to the thinknet website where i found a list of shops that
carry their maps. if i can't find one at the airport, i'll keep a lookout for those stores on the way
out of bangkok. or i may find one along the way in mueang chachoengsao or phanom sarakham.
i'll go prepared with a sketch map taken from google maps. that should be sufficient assuming
i don't need to detour. or get lost.
no gps. no netbook. no ipad/pod/phone/thingy. no kindle. no blackberry. no pager. no phone.
i'm doing this partially to get away from all that crap. i will take a small camera.
and a (paper) notebook.

so left the big simvastatin-less city of kunming, pop 4 million,
moved to a small town of 500k on hainan island. the first three
pharmacies i walked into had my meds. shazam! all 10mg, so i'll
be eatin' more pills. and have a choice of three manufacturers.
will do regular blood tests to confirm there's actually medicine

yes, i found that also. but it seems the chinese bestatin is not the same.......different chemical formula.
chinese: C16H24N2O4 for use in the treatment of acute myelocytic leukemia (also sold in china as ubenimex, is a competitive protease inhibitor)
thai: C25H38O5 for reducing cholesterol levels (generic simvastatin)
in case anyone is interested....cholesterol in chinese is 胆固醇 (danguchun)
still waiting on an email response from berlin pharma..........
