I have a 8 month old son with my Thai gf. He was born in Bangkok and my name is on the birth certificate, he has my last name. We have already got him a Thai passport.
We would all like to go to the UK soon and again at Xmas and at some time next year, so I would like to get my girlfriend a 2 year UK visa this time (before our son was born we have visited the UK twice before on 2 separate 6 month visas).
We will all be travelling together both ways.
I think my son requires his own UK visa, correct? Or can his visa be applied for, and combined with the mother's visa?
Is he eligible for a 2 year UK visa or is there a restriction on the maximum visa period for babies?
If not, is he currently eligible for a UK passport and what is the fastest method to get it while we are in Thailand?
TIA.

Where To Buy An Oven In Ubon Rachathani?
2012-03-10 17:27:48
Although it may seem simple I'm having a hard time here finding anywhere with a decent selection of ovens and hobs.
After just completing building a house here Ive pretty much spent the last 6 weeks in DoHome (Ubon WatSatDu), HomeMart, HomeHub and Index plus a bunch of little private shops but I cannot see anything like what I want; a 5 burner gas hob and a matching large electric oven. Is there a specialist shop around here?
TIA

Given 90 Days On Entry Without A Visa
2012-01-21 12:49:21
I'm British. My Non Imm O visa expired a month ago while i was out of Thailand. When I returned to BKK and expected to be given a 30 entry stamp I saw that my stamp says I can stay for 90 days from the date I arrived.
Incidentally, a couple of years ago I had the opposite problem of what recently happened.

So what's the deal? Have the rules changed? Is this a mistake or is there some clause on a non O I am not aware of?
If it turns out to be a mistake on behalf on the immigration officer, because my stamp says I can stay 90 days can I legally stay 90 days in Thailand now? It would save me a hell of a lot of grief with getting a visa in Vientiane like I had planned!
TIA

Falling Tone
2011-07-19 07:15:34
This may be a bit late in asking this but the Falling Tone confuses me the most. It always sounds high to me compared to Mid tones, so I have just one, maybe obvious, question - where does the falling tone start from?
If it starts High and falls to midtone then that explains a lot and makes sense as to why it always sounds like a High tone to me. But if it starts at mid tone and falls to a low tone then I am still lost with it!!
