#5244910 No Deal On Computer Tablets, Thai Education Ministry Prepares Textbooks

.... but can someone tell me how these incompetents still have the support of the masses?

When will common sense start to prevail in this country?

I can't really blame the government; I talk to different Thai adults every week and NONE of them are interested in the news, current events, pollution, world news, etc.  When I asked them if they heard about the bombings in BKK almost 100 percent of them said "what bombings".  They just don't know and don't care.  The masses know more about "Super Stars" then about their own country.  So you can't blame politicians for taking advantage of the masses.

It is not much different in the US where we have a great number of idiots who believe that eliminating government and letting big business fuc_k over the people is a good idea.  The idiots don't remember history too well because they couldn't be bothered to study it.   They don't remember that the government is the one that keeps the drinking water safe, the food safe, workers safe from safety hazards in the work environment, etc.  But these same idiots are the ones jumping up and down clamoring to know why the government didn't do more to protect them when they learn all the painted products imported from China contain lead, or that the vegetables imported from Mexico have e coli contamination.  Not to bright those folks "I want no government but I want the government to protect me".

#5177195 Thai Govt Called For Moving 2 Million People From Mountain Zones

I think that the worst damage is being done by a few very wealthy people who are engaged in illegal logging and massive deforestation and who do not even live close to the forest environment.

As long as a high post in the administration is seen as an opportunity to make profit and as long as the paramount goal in life among the elite be to make maximum profit in order to buy stupid luxury goods (Mercedes, BMWs and such), there will be nothing hindering Thailand to become a wasteland in the future.

#5138261 Bangkok Cabbie Urged To Return Bt13M Worth Of Gold

Posted mks222 on 2012-03-16 10:31:23

Many years ago I lost a hand phone in a cab to Don Muang airport (it slipped off a belt clip - haven't used one since!).  Noticed it after I left, borrowed a phone and rang my number.  Cabbie couldn't speak English so I got someone from the office to talk to him.  Anyhow he promised to return the phone.

I checked into my flight and then returned to the curb waiting with trepidation.

With just a few minutes before I had to go to the gate the cabbie showed up, gave me my phone and flattly refused any sort of money (finders fee or compensation for driving back to the airport)!

To this day I remind myself of this driver when I hear a story like this or come across a cabbie who refuses to switch on the meter.

People like that do exist!

#5137812 Bangkok Cabbie Urged To Return Bt13M Worth Of Gold

Posted Microwave on 2012-03-16 07:46:00

I once left the cash equivalent of $US 1500 in a brown bag in the back seat of a taxi in Manila.  I was taking the money to deposit into my bank account when I was living and working in Manila.  I had recently had an argument with my gf and my mind wasn't clear.  After getting out of the taxi, I went to deposit the cash and realized I had left the cash in the taxi.  About 10 minutes later the taxi driver returned to the bank and gave me all of my cash.  I gave him some of the cash, but he refused it.  He claimed that it was his religious duty to return the pesos to me and seemed just as relieved to see me at the bank as I was to see him.

I was very fortunate to have come across an honest cabbie, they do exist.

#5103480 Bangkok Traffic Police To Get Tough On Cabs

Posted gay4who on 2012-03-02 20:58:12

what about the Police making it easy to report Taxi drivers who refuse to take you onboard by running the meter, ONLY by a set fee? There should be a number to call to report the taxi AND the police taking action against him/her. But like everything else  you can whistle in your somtam for that to happen.

#5080557 Pregnant Aussie Teenager Beaten, Robbed In Phuket Ladyboy Attack

The bottom line is simply that if the personal revenue generating company known as the phuket police has any interest in pursuing crimes like this, they would go down dramatically. If these pigs were locked up, for an extended stretch, do you not think word would get around. But, the problem is that there is no money in this. The "toy police" (imitation law enforcement agency) would have to spend hours on this, and they would not receive any tea money. What a terrible thing that would be. Actual law enforcement by a group that is so brain dead, as to be near retards.

What about restricting visa's for all those soul brothers who come here for the sole purpose of crime?
I don't know if anyone has noticed but there seems to be more and more of them every month!

What about the ones that don't come from the middle east. The Swedish/Lebanesse has a Swedish Passport.
They can come from anywhere. They are already living everywhere.

#5066312 Explosion At Karon Hotel - At least 30 tourists injured at Phuket Orchid Resort

Posted swillowbee on 2012-02-18 14:18:56

... you know, this sounds as improbable that this was a bomb ... be sure, the Thai government will emphasize that in official statements again, and again, so authoritative and utterly empty.

... and I want to believe it was not a bomb, but with all the deceits and cover-ups for which the Thai government is now notorious (regardless of political stripe), I just cannot bring myself to believe anything they say ... even when it might be the truth ... who really knows?

... after over a decade here, I am conditioned to reflexively believe that if a Thai government official's lips are moving, they are lying ... I will believe it only after a foreigner, any foreigner, announces their view.

... I hate this, and what Thais have done to me in this regard.

You sound like a real barrel of laughs to live with Mr shorts.

So muslim's desire to convert the whole world to muslim, including you and me, at any cost, is not objectional then. Glad we got that clear.
Some Muslims are violent - this is not a reflection on the religion itself, nor the majority of its believers who are peaceful and reasonable people who respect other religions and freedom of worship.

Independently of the violence aspect - if you object to evangelism I hope you feel the same way about the Christian, Mormon, 7th Day etc knocking on doors, trying to brainwash kids etc all around the world.

And with regard to violence, which countries sees the most murders, shootings etc as a percentage of the population - what you'll find there is a rabid belief in the most irrational Christian sects.

IMO eliminate all the organized monotheistic religions and the world would be a better place.

I believe that the Quran was written between 610 and 632 AD.

I think it helps to hide one's ignorance by avoiding factual errors

SC

Wrong, He was not referring to when the quran was written.
He was referring to the Jewish Torah that the quran plagiarizes.
So he is correct.
