#5312075 Business Leaders Tell Mayor Foreign Tourists Have Lost Confidence In Pattaya

Posted petercool on 2012-05-18 22:33:41

Pattaya has so few original locals and has become a city of transients with no real commitment to developing any civic pride. When a fast profit rather than a long term benefit rules, this is what you get.

#5302540 The Filipinos Are Coming!

Posted penkrew on 2012-05-15 16:07:32

I've worked with many Filipinos and found them to be a cheery, hardworking bunch. A lot of private Thai schools like hiring them as they can still charge parents more for learning with a 'foreigner' but the Filipino salaries are much lower. Not fair, but that's life.
Would certainly be happy for more Filipinos to come to Pattaya.

#5300855 Moto Gp & Wsb, 2012.

Posted Lickey on 2012-05-15 00:13:22

I hope the Moto GP racers were watching the WSB races, i havent seen a GP race like that for many years, perhaps never,,
It was so good, the broadcast chief kept the scene at the front of the race, unless somebody crashed,so unlike GP where they go back to show something that might happen!! like F1,
Can anybody imagine Rossi and Edwards in the mix? that would be really something!!!
Lot of websites are blaming Marco for what happened, Marco overtook Leon causing him to leave a gap,Marco went wide,Leon came back in only to find Rea there, and you all know the rest,,

As for the Rent-a-Gob commentator, after he said Checa was "King of the Mountain" race 2 Philip Island, there is only one King Of the Mountain, Joey Dunlop,, so mr rent a gob, i hope your next shit is a hedgehog....

Posted Image That,s the first hurdle completed.

Most of Sheffield are rooting for your success Soihok and the support is growing by the day with many high profile names on the list, not least our chairman who speaks for all of us.

Quote:-

Best wishes: Milan Mandaric hopes and thinks that the Blades will triumph in the play-offs and be promoted with Wednesday

MILAN Mandaric is backing Sheffield United to follow Wednesday into the Championship.

The Owls chairman feels that it would be good for the city if both clubs go up and that the Blades can do it via the play-offs.

“I sincerely believe that there would be nothing better than for them to make it,” he said.

“This city needs them as well. It is a football city.

“There is nothing better than to have both clubs going neck and neck, competing professionally on the field, and to have excitement between two sets of supporters going at each other in a good football way.

“Yes, I think they (United) should make it. I think they will make it. They have got enough quality there.

They’re a great club as well, and I wish them all the best.”

Unquote

I won,t tempt fate by adding to my post apart from repeating my best wishes for a much deserved promotion.

#5229729 Two Students From Macau Hurt Following Latest Pattaya Beach Jet Ski Scam

Posted smedly on 2012-04-18 17:08:18

I can just imagine some falang losing it and going to the beach with a AK47

or finding out where they store them and torching the place - just my imagination running away

The mayor should be ashamed of himself and the new police chief just might shake the tree - who knows

Yet again, grounding is a non-trivial issue.

BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN GIVING POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ADVICE.

Grounded 3-pin socket outlets have been required in Thailand since the 90s.

Most appliances with exposed conductive parts must be bonded to ground. If, not, under fault conditions, the metallic parts could be at a potentially lethal voltage. Kitchen/laundry appliances nearly always fall into this catagory. Brown goods including MOST a/v equipment tend to be double insulated and require no ground.

Care must be taken with single phase equipment as these often have single pole switches. Plugging a table lamp in the wrong way round can leave the outer part of the bulb still at 220V even when the lamp is off (because the switch just disconnected the neutral.

Finally, relying upon a nail or other Heath Robinson earthing system is lethal. Don't even think about it, consult an appropriately qualified person.

I will answer specific queries if contacted directly.

Finally, we do not know the exact nature of the fault in this case. However, under fault conditions, it is entirely possible for the TV antenna signal conductor or the screen to be at 220V.

Very VERY sad indeed.

Strangely enough many of the later model houses are wired internally correctly (also many are not) where the outlets are wired in series and DO have the ground (earth) connected however from the "Breaker" there is NO earth. Many times as I have also done when renting a house you only need to drive a copper pin into the earth and then tie that into the breaker. If your house is wired correctly with "three-prong-outlets) and you use the same 3-prong plugs you should be ok.

Of course this is NOT true with many places however it is good warning to check when you move into a place. If it is wired correctly with the 3-prong-outlets then the cost to "ground it" including copper is around 300 baht.

RIP to the victoms and Condolences to their loved ones.

#5198988 Bars Closing?

Posted britmaveric on 2012-04-07 18:12:48

There will be bars open but they will be dark, no music, drinking from coffee mugs  and generally subdued. Be honesty it isn't that much fun, but at the end the day it's up to the person.

What is there not to get? Take a look at his page, not one negative comment, if you don't agree with him it gets deleted. Only new photos of his female conquests are posted.

Not only has he not responded here to let us know his side of things, also take a look at the other boards, he has not responded to anyone about this matter.

Probably not care to respond because unlike us, he actually has a life . . .

based on your comments elsewhere, i would certainly agree with you on that.........

Stalker too?  What, my comments that you shouldn't being checking out little boys package in the bathroom or making light of pedophilia.  Haha, this guy is too busy raking in the girls to post on some forum.  Dang, my married butt has too much time on my hands now.  I think this dude looks like a juiced up block head, but hey, he is having fun and making the most out of a difficult life.  Better have it now as that test he constantly injects surely has caused permanent shut down.  Doubt HCG could even kick start those suckers so one day no more boom boom for Sharkey unless he get a pump . . .

#5138206 Millions Lost In Tax Revenue Over Imported Cars: Thailand

Posted submaniac on 2012-03-16 10:16:58

The only way that these cars could even be allowed is with the aid of Thai customs and other officials at the land transportation bureau.  There have been enough threads on the motoring forum about importation about cars being seized and sold at auction, that there is no way any car can even enter the country (nevermind the emissions testing and blue book registration) without a government official being involved.   If they really want to collect the tax, all that is required is to keep an eye on their own.

#5105656 British Thugs In Court For Robbing Malaysian Student

Posted draftvader on 2012-03-03 18:45:34

I just wish each and every person in that group (who didn't stop their "friends" from acting that way) should have to suffer the combined sentences as a group.  It just makes me sick that I have to walk around in England (every 2 years when we go back) looking like I will kill everybody in my path whenever I see scroats like this just to keep safe.  Bloody shame.  These idiots are the very reason we should bring back the stocks.  4 Saturdays in a row being pelted with rotten tomatoes, potatoes, bricks (obviously not, but that is how I feel) would do a huge amount to lower their arrogant stances.

#5105538 Fire On 7th Floor Of FICO Building, Asoke Area: Bangkok

Posted mrtoad on 2012-03-03 17:41:16

Can't believe that afire in an office block has enabled the usual suspects to come out and bash Thailand. Pretty sure we still have fires back in the UK. My impression of firefighters in Bangkok is that they do a very good job. I'll agree that some of the wiring and power cables aren't exactly great here - but there are a lot of things back home that aren't great. Anyone read about the bloke that drowned in 3 foot of water, as the police and fire brigade looked on, because Health abd Safety rules wouldn't allow then to walk in to the pond to get the person out as they had not done a submersible certificate.
