I believe the safest of the locations you have mentioned an interest in is Nakhon Si Thammarat. You would have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time to have a problem in any of them, but that has happened to foreign tourists in Hat Yai in the past. Having traveled extensively in the southern provinces myself, I would be remiss to suggest there is no danger in Pattani, Yala, or Narathiwat.

In Nakhon Si Thammarat there is the wonderfull Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan, one of the oldest, largest, and most beautiful temples in all of Thailand. The National Museum that is on the opposite side of the same street and not too distant is very good. I enjoyed the animal park, (zoo), in the city as well. The aviaries there are huge and quite nice to walk around in.

Sonkla has one of the best national museums in the country, the old building being worth a wander in its own right.

Hat Yai (and nearby Songkhla town - 30 minutes away) are both pretty interesting places and feature good Chinese food (a couple restaurants that feature no menu and where ordering is done mainly in Mandarin), Muslim food and roti, and some interesting sites. Hat Yai has an interesting Chinese presence and a large Chinese style market downtown. And nearby Songkhla has a decent (but not quite beautiful) beach, an interesting fishing village at the North side of the beach, and some unique old town fishing port areas.

Narathiwat should be plenty safe should you choose to visit there. I've been there since the violence started and never felt uncomfortable. I don't know what there is to do or see there, beside some interesting parks and waterfalls, etc. But it should be safe.

#3867023 What Would You Do To Improve Your Reputation?

Posted zaza on 2010-09-07 11:20:15

Hi forum mates,:jap:

I am currently shocked, dismayed, and horrified . I just found out I have a very bad reputation, in the forum, in fact ; I am running on a "Red =-1= minus 1= negative= under zero" reputation.
How could it be?
What Have I done?
Is there under Zero reputation?
What is the measurement that is used as a criteria in this process?
How would it be to have a "under zero" =minus reputation in a forum in Thailand?

To all the ill reputed members here on board; what (did you do) are you doing to regain your lost "reputation" in this forum? or did you always refrain yourself from stepping on some sensitive-souls' toes, out here to avoid losing your reputation?

Lastly; If I don't get my reputation green colored , positive, and over zero reputation  , by tonight, then I would level  others' reputation down with mine!
Cheers!

#3865598 Bringing Wine Into Thailand From Se Asia

Why don't  you get a colostomy bag and fill it with wine, I'm sure they won't check that. I guess the other option might be to pay the 2 or 3 dollars in fees, which might even be cheaper than a large colostomy bag.

Do you really think that anyone teaches Thai children English with the help of a book written for an adult reader?  Maybe you can come up with a few of those charities but I doubt it.  And my term 'adult reader' does not mean porn or X rated.

My post clearly stated that we are looking for an English speaking prisoner to send the books to and did not state that we are specifically looking for pedophiles, drug smugglers and murderers. So maybe a book would fall into the hands of one of those (so what) so the hel_l with everyone else.

one of those other what?

Fraudsters?

Scam artists?

Arms dealer?

White slave trader?

Thiefs?

BRitish redshirt enthusiast?

What are adult books anyways? from what i recall from school.. when you turn about 9 you start reading "adult" books.. Im guessing children learning english are about that age.

the point of this is to get you to get out and never ask working legit people to send books to people who've ruined lives.

your begging in here is the most arrogant thing i have ever read.

Find a better space for this crap. like a rapist convention or a pedophile chatroom... This isnt a site for crooks or crook lovers.
