Finding Work In The Uk For Me Wife

2012-01-09 22:12:26

Sorry that this is the wrong forum, but i am not having much looking with any other forums on the net. In the past i have got lots of useful information from here so i am hoping you can point me in the right direction again.

My questions is does anybody have any ideas for the best way for Thai women to get work in the UK. My wife has been in the UK now for over a year, and i guess given the current climate has been lucky in been able to find work. But so far she has only been bale to get work as a kicthen assistant in a restaurant. While we are grateful for the work and money, and i dont want to sound pig headed we feel this leave of work is below her. Before she left Thailand she got 2 degrees from one in sport science's from Chulalongkorn university and International relations from Ramkhamhaeng University. So really she is hoping to find a office job or a position so she can start a career. But when ever she applies for jobs even via agency's there very relaying get back. She would be willing to start as admin to get experience of that type of work, and has very good English and computer skills. So i am at a lose really to why she is finding it so hard. She will be starting a master degree hopefully next year also part time, so we are hoping that this will lead to more positions, but i feel her education background is comparable with most post grad students in the UK.

Although she is happy and a very hard worker, i do feel that the constant rejections are starting to get her down, so i am trying to help in anyway that i can. We have talked about moving to Thailand in the future once she has a UK passport. But i still worry then that we would be the in same position with me not been able to find a good job. Seems to be catch 22 at the moment.

Does anybody have any ideas or experience with there partners working in the UK?

Thanks for you help.

Visit Visa For My Wifes Sister

2011-07-01 02:04:32

Hello all,

My wife has been the in UK for nearly and year now on a settlement visa. We are looking into the possibility of her sister along with her husband and daughter to visit the UK to visit us. Both are working in Thailand and don't have any bad history (criminal records etc).
So far looking at the different visa's that can be applied for we are not sure which would be best suitable. Would the fact that my wife is living in the UK already have any impact on there visa chances (i.e not have to apply for just a tourist visa)?
Hopefully they would be able to visit for 2 or 3 weeks, if so we would be willing to act as sponsors during they trip here. If anybody has any experiences with something like this or can offer any help that would be great.

Thank you for your help.

Regards

Use Of Thai National Immigration Booths

2011-04-22 20:29:56

Hello all,
I am due to travel back to Thailand in a few weeks with my wife. This is the first time that we have traveled to Thailand as a married couple. After reading the recent reviews about the processing times at immigration, i was wondering if i would be able to go though the Thai only lines. I have a Uk passport and my wife has a Thai passport still. Is it just the case of going though together with my wife or is it best to ask permission first from the staff?
As on the return to the UK, would my wife be able to use the EU national as this would be the 2nd time she has entered the UK so already has her visa stamped?

Thanks for you help.

Cheap One Way Flights Bkk To Lhr Or Uk

2010-08-22 04:13:57

Best airline/website one way flights

I am looking for a flight for my wife as she has just received her settlement visa. Although due to work commitments I will not be able to get time off to travel to Thailand to travel back together. So I can only pick her up from the airport.

After looking over the main airline websites it seems that most one way flights are the same cost as return i.e £500 -£600. Does anybody know of any deals or the best places to look for one way flights from BKK to London. We are hoping for a flight with-in the next few weeks so we are flexible on dates, airport and airline choice. At the moment we are looking for the best deal/price if possible a airline that offers  high luggage allowance for economy.

Any advice that you could give would be a great help.

Uk Settlement Visa Granted

2010-08-20 13:15:54

My wife got a call from the embassy today to say that her visa had been granted, and asking her to go to get the stamp

It has been a long struggle but great news. Our application was rejected at first, but has been overturned during the appeal which has took about 11 weeks in thailand. So there is hope for anybody else who has to appeal. Although i would recommend trying to get as much outside help as possible like you local MP and lawyer.

Thanks you for all the advice that has been given over the past year.

My last question is that the embassy are saying that my wife will need to go to the IOm again for a new TB test. But the certificate we have now we got in march. It was my understanding that these last for 6 months. My wife hopes to travel to the UK in the next few weeks. So would be not be able to use this one?

Thanks again
