Is It Just Me?

2011-03-07 17:27:32

3 years ago I bought a cable box. I was recommended to buy one rather than rent.
Ever since I've always had a problem paying my bill or ordering another months viewing.
I use Packet Gold because I like to watch football.
I can't buy it in my home town because the guy in the True Visions shop... yes the TRUE VISIONS SHOP doesn't know how to sell me a months viewing.
I drive to Udon Thani to the main True Visions shop and purchase 6 months at a time to save me going there every month.
I'm away at the moment so my wife took the 2 hour bus ride to get there today only to be told....
"We're not doing that anymore, promotion finished. You can not buy packet gold or platinum anymore. If you want gold or platinum you have to rent a box from us!"
What am I supposed to do with the box they already sold me? It's a disgrace.
Has anyone else encountered these problems? I bought a dish and a box which works perfectly but they want to come to my house and install a new one that I have to rent!!
TiT I suppose.... it does baffle me though.....

Kasikorn Bank

2011-01-04 10:32:46

Hi
Has anyone had any experience of money disappearing from their accounts at Kasikorn
A friend of mine's sister recently had 100,000 baht go missing with no explanation.
My wife left 750 baht in her account last month. She just went to the ATM and now only 56 baht remains.
I know it's not a lot of money but it's pissed her off no end.
I'm off up there now to have her book updated and see if we can get any clues but I'm not expecting much.
It's a good idea to keep an eye on your money in the banks because I don't think this is the only case of money going missing.

Why When Thais See A Business Doing Well....?

2010-12-09 15:34:23

My friend recently moved back up country from Phuket where she worked for many years as a masseuse.
I live in a fairly large town which only had one massage shop which was always busy and was about 1kms outside.
I urged my friend to open a new one in town as I reckoned it would do pretty well.
She did just that. I obviously told all my friends to try it and after a short period of time she was really busy, having to hire a few more girls.
Low and behold 6 months later there are now 8 massage shops in total all within a 1kms radius.
Now my friend is thinking of shutting down as business is not so good and I feel bad for encouraging her.
This seems to happen a lot in Thailand... or maybe it's all over the world and I haven't noticed?
The main road at the bottom of my soi had 1 convenience store last year, now it has 5 and all selling the same items..
There's also the main highways which often you'll see a whole stretch of road selling the same things. I know maybe it's because people in that area are all growing the same things but would that be the case for selling gai yang every 50 metres for a few kms...?

Traveling From Bangkok To Udon

2010-10-21 20:59:14

Hi
I drove down from Udon to Bangkok on Friday and the roads were pretty treacherous to say the least.
Things have deteriorated somewhat since then and I'm due to drive back tomorrow (Friday 22nd)

The Thai news doesn't seem to give any information about the main road (Highway 2).
Can anyone tell me if it's safe to drive at the moment?

Thanks

Empty Pages In My Passport

2010-10-01 10:00:30

Hi there.
I've just been informed of a lady being refused entry into a country (don't know who or which country) because she only had 1 empty page in her passport.
Is it true that you need at least 2 empty pages to get in a country?
I have 2 empty pages but soon have to go on a visa run. Just cross the bridge at Vientiane and come back.
When I come back I'll have one empty page as the entry visa for Laos takes up a whole page.
Can anyone verify this information or shed any light on it?

Many thanks

Richieudon
