#5312345 Thai Women Extorting Money From Farlangs Through Facebook

Posted ebmzlm on 2012-05-19 02:35:06

I didn't realise until today how stupid farlangs really are. Watching my wife's friend speaking to a collection of farlangs through Facebook of whom she has never met personally. Out of 3, 2 farlangs agreed to send her money.

I couldn't believe my eyes when she came back 4 hours later with a considerable amount of money.

Are farlangs really this stupid? Are the stories you here everyday about these women so far fetched in your eyes that you don't believe them?

Stop giving these girls and Thais in general so much sympathy. They are eating you alive. The majority of you end up pot-less and the rest of you end up hating all the Thai nationals.

#5311153 Can'T Get To Overseas Webpages (Tot Home Access)

Posted Joop50 on 2012-05-18 16:17:06

Yes I had the same experience, asked my wife to call her "friend" at TOT and within 5 minutes the connection was recovered and it seems faster as it was lately.
If it is still not working, just phone. There was also the advice to reset the modem for 5 minutes, probably for getting a new IP adress.

My girl just arrived home and told me some more Tot info, there seem to be a broken cable south of CM. So the alternate routing didn't work that well.

#5300469 Canadian Currency

Posted WilliaminBKK on 2012-05-14 20:42:41

A friend of mine from Canada brought paper money to Bangkok and ran into some problems exhanging it, The Bank of Canada introduced polymer money earlier this year $100 & $50 and now the $20 bill is being introduced. SuperRich accepted the paper notes but only after a debate, a few of the banks refused outright on Soi 11.

Guess it's time for those who are holding paper currency to cash it in or convert it to another foreign currency.

I don't know if Queen Sirikit Navy hospital is considered a "government" hospital but I recommend it highly. my 3 day 2 night stay to remove malignant tumors from my Bladder cost me B30,000 vs Bumragrad 5 years earlier cost me over B200,000 for the same thing. Dr. that operated also works at Bangkok Pattaya.

#5292537 Hard Working Staff At Bangkok Immigration

Posted bkkguy1970 on 2012-05-11 20:29:04

Monday 7 May was a public holiday, Wednesday 9 May was a government holiday so I knew Tuesday 8 May would be busy but it was the most convenient day I was going to get to Immigration to do my retirement extension, 90 day reporting and get a re-entry permit

I got there at 1:15 PM and there where 150 people ahead of me in the extension queue and with only a few counters open the queue was moving very slowly so after a while I went downstairs for a coffee and snack. When I came back up I got a queue ticket for 90 day reporting, 100 people ahead of me but the queue was moving quickly so by 3:30 PM I was done there and got a queue ticket for the re-entry permit, 120 people ahead of me in the queue  - obviously I can't do this before the I get the extension so I am hoping this queue is not moving too fast!

by 4:15 PM I was getting worried as I was not even close to the front of either queue and the office officially closes at 4:30 PM - but the officer at the queue ticket counter assured me all open tickets would be processed

at 5:15 PM I finally got my extension and by 6:30 PM I finally got to the head of the re-entry queue and at 6:45 PM as I was leaving the office most areas were in darkness but there were still some staff in some areas who would not leave till the last person was processed

While I have no sympathy at all for the department with it's arcane and often undocumented procedures - half of the paperwork I had prepared was just ignored - and it's inability to maintain adequate staffing levels, at the airport or at the regional offices, I do have some sympathy for the frontline staff who have to cope with this!

#5272911 Innovative Thai Advertising With A Risk Of Losing Your Bank Card

I use the Yellow bank ( Krungsri ) ATM and I always get the money first, then my ATM card and last the receipt.  And there is not publicity yet....

And like another  ronthai  said..we are allowed 4 free withdrawal using other bank ATM each month in the same banking area but the banks charge 10 bahts for the 4 "free" withdrawal  outside your banking area...
I use Bkk Bank ATM's. They operate with the same sequence of events as your Yellow one (maybe all others also). The OP quotes a different sequence? Anyhow, a good idea to closely follow instructions on the screen. When my card is ejected, a loud beeping noise is emitted from the machine until the card is removed. So you would have to be very quick to leave without being reminded to remove your card. Short of an emergency, I would always use an ATM at the bank branch.

#5267479 Tot Offline In Bangkok For Several Hours Now

Posted ukrules on 2012-05-02 11:43:28

All lights were flashing normally on my router during this outage which suggests to me the problem was upstream.

Traceroutes showed a complete stoppage within the TOT network. The trace got about 5 hops in - then it just stopped responding to anything.

In Chiang Mai the same story: outage from 8.40h to 10.50h. Now working again, but slow!

Another Lewd Thai Music VDO Goes Viral

Posted Image

BANGKOK: -- Another music VDO has gone viral in Thailand. This time it's a new R&B music VDO with lewd lyrics featuring bikini-clad girls dancing and posing their legs like the shape of the letter "M." A psychiatrist fears such a music VDO could lead to more premature sex and unplanned pregnancy.

A YouTube VDO by a group of R&B artists that are calling themselves "illslick" has gone viral in Thailand. In just 5 days the VDO has attracted as many as 280,000 hits (as at 3PM on Feb 13, 2012). The song has been posted without the official music VDO by other users of a popular VDO sharing site. The lyric of the song asks girls to pose and open their legs like the shape of the letter "M." The music VDO also features women in bikinis and lingerie posing their legs so.

The song has also become a big hit in pubs and entertainment venues in Thailand. Thai teens have been emulating the dance movements in the MV and posted them online. They are posting VDOs of their dancing and singing to the song, M-Leg, online to compete who has the sexiest VDO.

Rabiebrat Pongpanit, the former chairwoman of the Association for Promoting Warmth and Happiness in Families, says she's Thailand is a free society, so free that there's a marked lack of the sense of social responsibility. She's called for the relevant government authorities to address the issue.

Psychiatrist Dr. Wallop Piyamanodham says, based on his work and research, MVs with provocative and sexual nature are produced with those with an attention-deficiency complex. The psychiatrist said the maker of the VDO feels the need to create such a VDO to attract attention and earn the approval from his peers.

The doctor also expressed his disbelief at a group of secondary school students who've organized a stripping contest. In the contest, female students of a well-known highschool would take a photo of themselves, in their school uniform, in sexy poses and post them online. The student who attracted the most number of hits by midnight on Valentine's Day will be hailed as the winner. Dr. Wallop also called for teachers, parents and the Culture Ministry to take a more active role to restore the beautiful culture of Thailand.
