Good afternoon,
It's been a while since my wife last applied for a UK visa. She has submitted the online application to VFS and has an appointment but it's too close to the date of the flight. I can rebook but I'm reluctant as we only have a limited holiday window.
I think I'm up to speed with VFS - I've read some fairly recent posts on this topic but I have grown to assume that the process changes every 6 months so I'm interested in reading some recent experiences.
2 questions:
I know a prior appointment is required but in practice can we turn up, wait in line and submit the hard-copy and biometrics?
And, once the biometrics have been collected what is the current minimum turn around time? (her application is good, has a number of prior visas, speaks fluent English, we're married etc ... so no major obstacles I can think of)
Thanks,
Dan

Preschool Education In Chiang Mai - Parents Views Please
2010-10-06 00:04:43
Ok I run a small preschool / kindergarten. I wont give the name.
A lot of people / parents have approached me bemoaning the provision of education in Chiang Mai and I was wondering what experiences parents reading this might have had. What's going on?
To add a bit of context, a professional Australian creative dance teacher remarked to me today that schools in CM are pretty unreceptive to her (fantastic, I have to say) services. In one hour today our children exercised vigorously , developed concentration and relaxation, used their imagination, practiced social skills, collaborated, & laughed.
Another parents has approached us almost begging us to run an after school programme for her 8 yr old who is bright but failing in her current school.
I'm particularly interested to find out about your views on - in no particular order.
1. Fees
2. Facilities
3. Quality of teaching / curriculum implementation
4. Extra curricular activities
5. What you feel is missing - what you would like to see
6. Satisfied overall?
Got anything to share?
Thanks in advance.

Steps To Get Thai Wife And Son To Uk ... In 9 Days
2010-10-01 17:53:44
Marks... Set ....
OK chaps and chapettes - need some quick advice from the collective brain of TVF!
I have a flight to the UK on October 10th 2010 - 9 days away. I have a Thai wife - married in the UK (British marriage certificate) - and we have a 2 month old son. Now she wants to come too ...
A. What are the steps I need to take in order to get them travel ready (her a visa - required? ... him a permit to travel, or passport even?)
B. Can we do it in time?
GO!
Surely this has been asked a million times in here but I can't seem to find just what I'm looking for.
Thanks everyone.

Legalizing A Marriage In Uk In Thailand (Chiang Mai)
2010-09-27 22:43:42
Hi there,
My wife and I got married last year in the UK and need to get our marriage legalized / recognized here in Thailand. Could anyone give me an idea of the steps I need to go through and possibly the length of time it might take?
I currently have an education visa but the language course I was on has just collapsed and now my visa (previously valid until January 2011) might be cancelled when I give my 90 day report in about a week's time. We also have a son who was born in Chiang Mai in August - probably irrelevant.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
