They do care, but as is often the case in Asia, they care about the perception rather than the reality. Corruption is so rife now that a brush against almost any surface quickly reveals a writhing can of worms, and we know how much people here enjoy losing face...

I'd hazard that "Ignorance" isn't the right word for Harry's use of the Hitler outfit. It would be extraordinary if a commissioned officer in the British Army, and descendant of the Royal Saxe-Coburg and Gotha dynasty was unaware of the events of WW2.I prefer the word "unfortunate" to describe that incident; unfortunate that society once again failed to call out the nude & exhibitionist emperor of PC, and instead passed another compliment on his finery.

It doesn't have much to do with freedom of speech, or a personal choice to voice an opinion, it would appear to be more of a case of complete ignorance. This trend simply highlights the fact that most Thais have limited knowledge of history and what is going on in the rest of the world, they are a lot like Americans in that way.

And as we all know, ignorance is bliss ;) Sometimes people need to take a minute to remember why they came to this country.
