Turn the GPS Mode "off" and  manually enter the GPS coordinates of someplace in Toronto and see what happens.

To continue with the simulation setup, the "Set Loc" or "Loc" option needs to be selected after the location is displayed on the map. Also, an alternative method to specifying the location to simulate other than entering the coordinates is by panning the map to the preferred location, and then selecting the location by placing the pointer on it. Having a world base map is particularly helpful in this situation.

In GMapTool it says the map file contains multiple products and doesn't produce the promised .bat file to import the maps into mapsource.
Try this:

  • Add IMG into GMapTool.
  • At Split Page, select Create: single maps. Specify a fresh empty folder, and then select Split Selected.
  • At Files page, remove added IMG (from step 1) so that there is no IMG listed there. Next add all files from split folder except MAPSOURC.MPS. At Join page, specify Output File, and tick Set mapset FID, key in 57 for FID, and 1 for PID. Then select Join All.
  • Finally use this re-packed IMG, instead of the original IMG when splitting using the original instructions posted above.

It depends on the unlock codes generated for the map. If the codes were generated based on Nuvi's Unit ID, then the map would only work in that particular Nuvi, regardless whether it is installed in Nuvi's memory or Nuvi's data card. If the codes were generated based on the data card's Card ID, and the map is installed in the data card, the card would work in any supported Garmin devices.

The good thing about this newer models, there is little possibility that the preloaded maps would be overwritten (since they are now stored in a hidden system folder). Any transfered map excluding Garmin official update for preloaded map will be written into \Garmin or \Map folder, not \.System folder where the preloaded maps reside.

Yeah, right. However below comment does not apply to this model.

If you are handy with a computer and want to play with the Garmin 1390T memory, then you can install the Thailand map file into the internal memory but you may have to delete a map depending on how many maps are installed now.
