Could this be karma?

Why would it be karma? Care to explain?

I think what he/she means is that what goes around comes around.  Thais have been pirating things for years and now something of thier own is being pirated.  Go to any market and you can buy Guchi for 100 baht or any of the latest DVD's even before they have been released.

Well, they do something about and law enforcement working to reduce it.
Except you are some xenophobe racist who stereotype all Thais and blame all for what a few have done there is no reason to say any Thai patent/copyright holder has lost his right to complain because of the other pirates.
People make such silly and thoughtless comments will telling for sure here other stories how and unwelcome foreigners are or that they are always get ripped off. But that is probably only a karma like payback for this ugly mindset.

All this CDs - everyone know that is a copy, but when it comes to food products like drinks and and seasoning products fake products bearing a much greater risk like the health of the costumer.

Take it easy! Talk about being insecure.  It is more ironic than anything, however making statements about the policies in Thailand are not racist unless they suggest that it is due to a genetic flaw of some kind which it is not.  Counterfeit products are common in most developing countries, not just in Thailand. That being said, most developing countries realize it would be ridiculous to blame other countries for counterfeiting their goods while they themselves are guilty of the same. Hypocrisy?  Not that other countires aren't hypocritical but dire pane al pane e vino al vino, call a spade a spade.

Having worked for multinationals in Thailand and the US, I can say without a doubt racism is more prevalent in Thailand than in corporate America.  If anyone makes a racist remark at the workplace in the US it is grounds for termination, however in Thailand, there is almost no consequence for being openly racist except to their superiors.

I don't know your ethnic background, however you seriously need to acquire a clue and a life, unless of course you work for the TAT or equivalent, in which case you just need an education.

So... no falang to blame for once?   :whistling:

Yes the US and some other countries offer cash rewards to arrest their citizens accused of pedophilia abroad, which is probably why there are so many cases involving farangs.  It is good to see that the Thais are starting to arrest their own citizens as well without the cash incentive.

Unfortunately this terrible crime goes on all over Asia and a recent study in Cambodia reveals that most cases of sex abuse amongst children were actually committed by the Cambodians themselves and not by Foreigners as was first thought  , in any case such as this the penalties should be made severe to act as a deterrent to others ! .

Excuse me! The rest of the world can breathe easy then? Did you mean to make such a narrow minded statement? If it were to actually occur in another country would it be those pesky Asians 'at it' abroad?
My god man!

He is probably referring to the fact that it is a common misconception that foreigners are responsible for creating demand in the sex-trade and pedophilia, when according to findings by the World Health Organization(WHO) it is actually locals who are responsible for the majority of the demand.  This is true in most developing countries not just in Asia, however mostly in Asia.  Sorry if the truth hurts.  If your angry about it take it up with the WHO don't shoot the messenger.

If Farang wants to come to Thailand, they should contribute to the local economy too.

Next time, they bring their own van, to visit their own bars, and drink their own beers, and perhaps even import their own girls (from the Philippines).

Looks like Farang have already moved on to one of your more reasonable neighbors.  Arrogant people like you give Thais a bad name.  Let's hope more and more Farang move on and prices become more fitting to the 3rd world country that it is.  Then it will be a reasonable tourist destination again.

International tourist arrivals (2009)
1  France 74.2 million
2  United States  54.9 million
3  Spain 52.2 million
4  China 50.9 million
5  Italy 43.2 million
6  United Kingdom 28.0 million
7  Turkey 25.5 million
8  Germany 24.2 million
9  Malaysia 23.6 million
10  Mexico  21.5 million

Wait until 2010 results are in.  This is a win win situation for everyone.  Less Farang coming, makes you happy.  Prices dropping makes things easier for those of us still here.  Keep up the good work is what I say :)

Whats wrong with these people.

If it was not for the expats a lot of business would be lost in Thailand

If it was not for expats a lot of business would be lost in Thailand What a load of crap Do you really think that expats add a lot to Thailands economy Maybe the beer bars in Pattaya or Bangkok but not to Thailand in general Not even 1% so dont think Thailand would be worse of without its expats.

More than 2/3 of Thailand's GDP depends on exports, so you are correct Thailand does not depend on expats.  It does however depend on foreigners, remember 1997?
