Visakha Bucha Day

Visakha Bucha Day

Also spelt – Visaka Puja / Wisaka Puja

This day is celebrated on the full moon of the sixth lunar month, which normally falls in May.

This day is considered the most important day in the Buddhist calender. It marks the day that Buddha was born, the day of his enlightenment 35 years later, and finally his death 45 years after that.

Thais celebrate this day by flying religious flags outside their houses, and "making merit" by offering food and gift packs (containing soap, toothpaste etc..) to monks.
