  1. 5555, my first night in 1990 Bangkok was at theMiami, advised and booked at the Don Mueang hotel counter. Moved out next morning and driven to the Rex where I became a regular for the next 10 years. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  2. Went to a public swimming pool today with a friend and our 2 daughters. Bought two bottles of beer without thinking about the booze ban. No harm occurred to anyone. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  3. My 6 year young daughter is in P1 in a private school in the middle of nowhere and I am fairly satisfied how things go. I don't much like homework, but it shows she must write Thai and English and does her maths. The village school has a zero value reputation and all "better off" parents send their kids to this school. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  4. There is no "typical Thai income" In the villages millions live of near nothing. People working their (or rented) rice field, working 2x 1 month, surviving the rest of the year, cutting my grass once a month for 300B, or my maid 300B one day week work (6 hours + food) Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  5. Frankly, stupid rules. Drunks will drink regardless. I drink one beer per week, as it comes. I like a glass of wine but wine is not worth the money here, 500B for a Bottle of vinegar, no thanks. Sad for restaurants who can't serve wine or beer those days. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  6. I spent the first 22 years of my life in Leuven, the Stella Artois town. I certainly drank my share of Stella although there were 15 breweries in Leuven during the fifties. I switched to gin tonic at UCL and Cuba Libre afterwards. I discovered a few hundred Belgian beers later in my life. Still indulge. Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
  7. Still have not met the only English knowledgeable teacher or person in my daughters school. All other personal in that school does not understand a single English word. She does get one (1) hour of English though. Why would Thai teachers need English anyway? There is no use/need for English in this country. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  8. Some day Thailand will have a double track railway system, no one knows however when that will be. I grew up in the 50ties, 1950 ties that is, never saw something else until I took a Thai train in 2002. Still no double track in sight. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  9. I buy lots of things in Thailand but nothing from King Power. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  10. Reminds me of defunct Eastern Germany and the STASI. Furthermore, one should realize that democracy is nowhere in sight, certainly not this decade. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  11. Had the forms translated, if I can trust that it says "adopted" And obtained a passport showing the document. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  12. No Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  13. In Bangkok i usually stay in 5* hotels, always tip maid at beginning of stay, always had Thai nationals. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  14. Buying pineapples for weeks now at the local village market. A guy with a pickup sells them for 10B/ kg, fabulous. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
  15. 5 years ago Air Asia was my first choice, now it is my last. Just booked Thai Smile Udon Thani to Swampy for 1025B one way, no need to run from DMK to BKK. otherwise often fly Lion Air or Nok. Less hassle to book. Sent from my iPad using Thaivisa Connect
