  1. There’s some very good posts on this topic and as my moniker suggests, I first came to Thailand in 1969. As some contributors have correctly stated, in my opinion, Thailand is a place where you can easily lose yourself if you are from a starched Western country. The girls (or boys), the party lifestyle and the friendliness of the Thai people can lead you to believe it never ends but when it does a deep loneliness may set it. From what I’ve seen when things go wrong, they can really go wrong, the money may runout, you’ve been two timed and are afraid to go home or you’ve burned your bridges. I doubt that anyone would committ suicide if they realised the effects your action has on your surviving family if you still have one and if you don’t, try not to cause too much collateral damage. See, it’s not really done by the sane. It has to be an act of the irrational desperados, surely? But on the surface of it and from the posts maybe Thailand is a danger zone?
  2. Recently erected signs all over Lumpini Park exhorting us “DO NOT FEED THE PIGEON” but there’s damn thousands of ‘em.
  3. Pretty sure that obtaining citizenship by fraud is the yardstick for reversing it and it’s rare. These bikie folks make most of the Perth money from selling amphetamine like drugs and that’s why he’s persona non grata.
  4. My experience over almost 30 years of marriage to the same Thai girl and having employed 5 girls in a paramedical business for 20 years in a western country, is that it's the girls who are they real victims. Especially if they emigrate to a western country and are themselves from poor families. They are under constant pressure to repatriate money home, which they do but can ill afford. This confuses the husbands who take time to understand the tribal nature of these families and the near absence of a welfare state. It takes the husband many years to realise that the girls are in a bind trying to please both husband and family. This is a side of the Thai/Farang marriage syndrome seldom discussed on these forums (fora). Those couples who finally deal with these cultural opposites can make a go of it. But it isn't easy. Having said that, I've noticed that the cultural differences tend to be less significant as the ages of the couples become equal.

    Ladies in Thailand.

There was a gal like that around in Patpong in the eighties who featured in a book called from memory, "Hello my Big Big Honey". She had about five Brits on the go at once and was very adept at scheduling them so that there was no overlap. Could be her and she's moved on. Bangkok - Hua Hin taxi

I have done three trips to Bangkok since January 2017 and the first time it was a Nissan Teana and the driver was texting and speaking on a non hands free on the phone for about 25% of the journey. Cost Baht 2000 no tip. After that I insisted on safer drivers and things changed dramatically. Cost Baht 2000 and I gave. 10% tip as my family and I will be regular users. Just be firm on the safety angle. Phone 0623298789 Roong Travel. Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

    Australian Aged Pension

Probably worth pointing out that in Australia unlike some European countries you don't pay any part of your taxes into a pension fund you pay it into general revenue. Superannuation is designed for that purpose. The way both political parties are pulling the spending levers I wouldn't be surprised that by the time you're on a pension it won't be transportable across borders at all. So get a Super fund going or have a good time up here. Won't be much fun down there unless you become a deserted single mother, a drug addict, join a minority religion, go full on LGTBI. If you can claim indigenous ness. That's work too. Lottsa options[emoji3] Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

    Ladies in Thailand.

Jeab1980 has a point, my friend married a bar girl 28 years ago and it worked out well but that's rare and she wanted to get out of the scene and never go back. That old saying about " taking the girl out of Patpong is easy but taking Patpong out of the girl ain't" is usually the norm. Things get tough and she goes back on the tools. These days they farang guys marry Thai girls their own age and use dating sites, that works better and overall educated Thai ladies make very good wives. Bikini baristas file suit against city, defend right to work in bikini

Great fashion piece is the Burka. All feminazis and frightbats should be forced to wear one and then join the peace keeping force to, the Sudan, Somalia and Afghanistan. If they survive, then upon homecoming the most handsome "persons of their preference" in the land should volunteer to marry them, irrespective of sexual preferences. Bravery should be rewarded by complete "equality". Sent from my iPad using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

Didn't read the story that carefully but those frightbats really push my buttons. I'd love my coffee served by bikini clad ladies, hasn't happened yet and now after reading the article carefully, no point going to Washington is there? Thanks for pointing that out. I'll cancel my ticket. Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

God spare us from Western Feminists. My Thai gal of 28 years can't stand them. How condescending of these frightbats to think a Thai girl needs their assistance. They got the wrong country, try the Philippines or how about Saudi Arabia? The real brave amongst them are on a plane to Afghanistan. Leave the low hanging fruit in Thailand alone, they don't need you. Sent from my iPhone using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app
