    Organic food in Pattaya

When I lived in Goa in Anjuna beach around 73/4 the only toilets were the local pigs. You squatted over a high millstone and the pigs rushed to eat everything left on the ground below. But it is possible to feed pigs with organic food just as specialised foods are fed to pigs that are used for palma ham and serrano ham, chestnuts and acorns etc.

I know it well. Its OK. There are many more veggie places now and veggies options. Thanks for your response,
  4. But that does not influence Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians who are the majority expats BTW nor does it influence Americans or the 20 something European countries.....just the British who are a minority here. But the survey refers to Western Tourists of which the UK is a negligible. So why are other westerners coming here less? And more importantly not coming as repeat visitor but just coming once and not returning. It is a myth that back packers don't have money: they do. It is a myth that older retirees here dont have money: they do. They also relish fun, freedom of choice and they are discerning with lots of information available about where to spend their money and how to spend it. And they are not choosing Thailand. about three years ago around the destruction of Bangkok street life I ceased to recommend to all my friends and family not to bother with Thailand, sad but true. Bahrain is more fun, Hanoi is more fun, Saigon is more fun. So its not just exchange rates. There word has gotten out that from the party islands of KPG to the streets of COA to the fleshpots of Pattaya poor old Thailand is only worth a perfunctory visit, if that. Berlin has techno. German and NZ have better girly scenes. Any dull average Euro suburb place MTV hip hop. TV sports are everywhere. And now Thailand in many ways has ceased to be Thailand. So its not the strength of the UK pound its just national and municipal vandalism and mismanagement the country and its cities. But Thailand has been great to me over 30 years so I am eternally grateful for it but saddened by the direction it has taken.
  5. Europe is very attractive and interesting and depending where you live can be very cheap. For long term retirement and young people wanting fun the is the Triple states of The Gambia, Senegal and Guinea Bissau. As yet relatively undiscovered, people not ruined by mass tourism, excellent beaches and exotic culture, some of the best music in the world and genuine world travellers with talents and stories to tell. The Balkans are just opening up. Britain and the UK have cheap currencies. Regarding the survey quoted in this thread: is it just English Speaking visitors, Europeans or does it include Russians etc?

    Thanks for your reply.
  8. The roads seem busy with traffic jams and places like Jomtien Night Markets is rammed as are the baht buses that go there. Soi LKM is busy as is the rest of SB and WS is always busy but mainly with rubberneckers. Around Pratumnak and Jomtien there are more couple pushing kids in Prams than I've ever seen before and I've noticed quite a few adventurous oldies tourists plus some middle aged couples. Parts of Pattaya are very busy and others are not. For some well run bars there is no quiet season. As I live here I hate the busy season and it is already too busy for me. Certain times of night and at weekends its hell and crowded. I just stay in. For Christmas and the new year I will go up country. I have noticed more and more Chinese independent travellers compared to three years ago. I think the government has given VOA status to several new countries for the first time so they will head here. Pattaya is busy but the demographics are changing. This is an English Language Blog but what about the other blogs such as Arab, Russian and Chinese Language blogs? What are they saying and how do they perceive Pattaya and what it offers? What do Thai blogs say about Pattaya and how busy or not it is?
  9. Its depressing seeing the Thai staff fronting empty flashy shops and indeed the food is better at Central festival which has not just the lower floor food court but the brilliant floor five and some places on the 6th Floor.
  10. I could not find the low cost food court area as compared to the one in Bangkok where there are scores of food stalls around floor 5. On what floor is it? In the Pattaya T21 there were a few indifferent places on the ground floor. I found a good steak house selling grass fed beef so I ate there. But I won't be rushing back.

Pattaya is fitness freak city! But I take your point. But veganism, vegetarianism, organic food consumption is rocketing the west and so it will here eventually. As for the Thais: they might see it as a potential burgeoning market. Just as they have with natural herbal cures and as they are with seeking to control the rights over the medicinal use of medicinal Thai marijuana.

No. For me....and anyone else who needs current, up to date information. Any advice? Or are you trying to disrupt the thread. I import well over the required funds but in a haphazard way from multiple financial income streams but would need some advice on how best to present it, or failing that do what I usually do just pay an agent to do the leg work.

I found a small organic butchers either on Pattay Nua or Pattaya Klang just yards from the malls but when I looked recently I could not find it. I may have the business card somewhere. The vegetarian restaurants must get their supplies from somewhere. Years ago I saw shockingly priced organic herbs at the Avenue Supermarket but have not checked recently.

Sorry I don't understand. Or are you trying to be amusing at my expense? If so why? Its a valid question. Where do you live in Pattaya? Is there an organic shop near you?
  15. No. In some places you have to wear a pair of disposable briefs.
