    Eye Doctor

We seem to be blessed with highly skilled eye doctors. http://www.chiangmairam.com/NEW%20CMR/Physician%20Th/CV%20th/Kessara.pdf

    Eye Doctor

Thanks for the info, I found this and there is other info out there, which confirms your opinion of him. Given your positive experience and his obvious qualifications, maybe he should be added to the pinned list. Dr. Direk Patikulsila had his Medical Degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand. He had his training in ophthalmology at the Department of Ophthalmology, Maharaj Nakhon Chiang Mai Hospital, Chiang Mai University, Chiang Mai, Thailand, and his fellowship training in vitreo-retinal diseases at the Department of Ophthalmology, Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Dr. Direk is one of the leading retina specialists in Thailand, especially in the northern region. He is currently the Chief of an Information Technology Subcommittee in the Thai Retina Society. http://www.thairetinasociety.org/trs15/invited_speakers_cv.php?cv=28 http://www.chiangmaicitynews.com/news.php?id=2001
  3. I would go to Rajavej in this instance. Also, you have the advantage of calling down to the international service, and ask for either Natasha or Saskia. They will come and help you seek answers, translate forms so you know what you're signing......in fact help you from start to finish, they are a wonderful asset and you will have no need to ever not know what's going on if you seek their help. When you're mobile hop over to the Holiday Inn buffet. All the best
  4. I wasn't aware that Dr. Chanakarn ever did surgery at Ram, he never used to it was exclusively Rajavej because of family ties & Sripat. I guess he must have added Ram. I have seen him and he was talking about doing the surgery at Rajave. I asked him about doing it at Ram and he said yes he does it just costs more. OK, thanks for that.

  6. Absolutely agree about the outer circle of hell for foreigners. Both Natasha and Saskia are excellent. The first thing anyone not acquainted with Rajavej should do, is go to the front desk and ask for one of these girls (unless you are fluent in Thai or fully confident). They will walk you through every step of the process, interpret everything, explain clearly what's happening etc. OK it's a bit like someone holding your hand, but when you're sick it feels good!
  7. I think CTH have bitten off more than they can chew. They're a cable operation and don't have the infrastructure in place to connect all the homes, condos, businesses that will want to subscribe. Many condos have a communal True dish but I can't see anything equivalent with CTH in time for August. My hope is that, no doubt at the last minute, a deal will be done with True, for them to show some of the EPL games. I fear this is wishful thinking, and EPL coverage on TV in Thailand will be very limited next season. Probably True will show a game of their choosing a week and you'll still have to be a Gold or Plat member in order to see it! They are now marketing themselves as The Home of Sport (snooker from China etc) and probably quite happy to have saved all the millions on the EPL.

    Fyi: Exit/reentry Permits

Anyone remember how the 'barcode' was supposedly going to solve all the problems? Not long ago, but seems so.

    Fyi: Exit/reentry Permits

Yes, I'm sure that is the reason. I was not giving a reason for anything. I made an observation that the visa services doing some of the work and keeping people out of the Immigration office may ease their workload in the office. But you can make of it what you will. It looks to me like the "Visa Services" are allowed to jump the line to get their clients 90 day, and one year visa renewals processed while the people (cattle) with numbers and scheduled appointments have to wait longer. The only logical reason the immigration officers would allow the "Visa Services" to jump in front of everyone, is the "Visa Services" pay the immigration officers or supervision. The workload appears to remain the same for immigration staff other than a few less bodies have to stand or sit inside the small, inadequate immigration office waiting room. I don't see where this speeds up anything. Immigration staff tends to take their time getting to their assigned desk in the morning (usually late) and take plenty of breaks during the day. I wonder what immigration staff does with all the forms we are required to fill out? Do they shred them every five or ten years? I have only been here five years. My file must be at least a foot thick (30.48 cm). The queue online system allows for 2 hour lunch breaks....why? The paper is burned every March and blamed on the farmers and Burmese.

The Assist representative shows up at immigration with a fistful of 90 day reports, which get done. Is it legal? Well, CM Immigration wouldn't be involved in anything illegal would they? So draw you're own conclusions.

Probably CM Thai Immigration It would be an interesting coincidence if the current burlesque dance of inefficiency* at the immigration office began about the time this visa assistance service was introduced. Ah, but that would be negating all the posters, who feel that it's because of overwork.

I use another company, but the writing is on the wall. Pay the price (which is insignificant) and escape the gauntlet. Not so hard, is it? Compared to what a Thai faces trying to achieve long-term residence in the US, it's a piece of cake. Most people calculate the price to beers and it becomes a tough choice.

They have no right to ask for your boarding card, we are allowed a re-entry permit in case we need to leave urgently.

The Best Thing About Today Was....

The best part of today was seeing how many people would try and spoil TV's April 1st joke and thinking that they were the first to notice it. One person even complained about his post being deleted when he was the FIRST to spot the joke!!..........or so he thought, not knowing the mods were in the background........hilarious.

Sleeper Train Or Bus Chiang Mai Bangkok

There's a good space under the seat for luggage. The toilets are great, if you can hang your head out of the window whilst going.

    Ukba To Be Disbanded

Fair enough ‘If we had made clear that we rejected Strasbourg’s ruling – and meddling – on principle at the outset, the UK Border Agency could have deported Qatada without the UK courts stopping them.’

Thai's Can Give It But Can't Take It

I'm surprised you didn't kick her in the ribs. I know being called fat can hurt a woman's feelings, but I can't say I recall a man taking it so hard.
