NLA confident election will take place in due time

BANGKOK, 14 September 2017 (NNT) - The National Legislative Assembly is confident that all organic bills will be ready in time for the next general election and according to the national roadmap.

NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said on Wednesday that all seven election commissioners will remain in office until their successors are elected and officially appointed.

Mr. Pornpetch’s comment was heard after the draft organic law on the Election Commission of Thailand was announced in the royal gazette.

According to the NLA President, five new commissioners will be selected by a selection committee and another two candidates will be appointed by the Supreme Court.

Mr. Pornpetch said that a formal notification has been sent out to all involved to complete the selection process within 90 days.

In regard to the two remaining organic laws pertaining to members of parliament and the Senate, Mr. Pornpetch said that the drafting process remains in progress and he believes they will be completed in time for the general election which is expected in late 2018.

What fun they must be having with tying an election to a piece of string then whipping it away just as the public reach out for it. The old ones are still the best!

Haven't we heard a similar comment, each time from another snout at the through, multiple times over the past 3 years?

They act like an election is some abstract entity that will 'occur' by itself. :saai: No,shit heads, YOU can make it happen whenever you want - it isn't unpredictable like the weather. :post-4641-1156693976:

Yes, but why not wait until the treasury is (almost) empty? 'See, elections were held and now look at the state of the place. The politicians have let us down again, as always!'

No prizes for guessing what comes next in that scenario...

This is the only country I am aware of where due time stretches over 20 years. The well known term "mañana" is a joke compered to that.

They mean the same roadmap that fixed elections in 2014, then 2015, 2016, 2017 and ad libitum?

Now we see why democracies are so popular throughout the world, because there are checks and balances and an opposition to ensure that you give clear and concise explanations of your intentions.

Whenever Prayut decides it'll be "safe" to hold elections to get a predictable result.

Checks and balances that previous Thai  democratically elected governments never addressed, hence Prayut

The government has, in the interests of democracy, invested large sums in equipment that will enable them to accurately predict an election.

"Due time" passed a few years back. It must have click passed unnoticed during feeding time in the trough.
