New tax looms for some realty

A NEW TAX must be levied to reflect the increased value of land and buildings alongside major transportation infrastructure development projects, said the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) in order to recoup some of the high costs of government investment in the projects.

Mother of killed woman demands police interrogate Chidlom building owners

The mother of a woman who was killed when a power pole fell on her motorcycle on Soi Chidlom in Lumpini district in May on Tuesday asked Lumpini police to speed up the investigation, saying it had been six months but there had not been any progress.

Close to 2,000 illegal foreigners in Phuket not deported

The total criminal cases where foreigners were arrested from October 2016 – October 2017 is 2,415 people with only 685 of them sent to immigration for further processing and potential deportation.

Phuket Police Commander, Pol Maj Gen Teerapon Thipcharoln has revealed that about 1,730 cases of illegal foreigners in Phuket ‘discovered’ by local police from many police stations across Phuket were not handed to Phuket Immigration Office and the cases are being investigated.

Govt denies recruiting people to answer PM’s questions
