Buying an automobile Bangkok

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I have been saving up to buy a new Toyota want to get my 25% down. Went to the dealer and have problem with financing. I am from America been here 12 years now have my Thai girlfriend never married yet but she does not work. They want some kind of statement showing a job. I was thinking if you have the downpayment and can show money in the bank not a big problem. She has an Aeon card and bought enough stuff to get credit for a motorbike purchase. My Question is there some banks that are more liberal than others or am i going to have a big problem with this. I have a pension and social security from America if that helps me. Thank you in advance to all who reply.

You will likely have a problem no job no loan (or at least no conventional loan)

Without a job you won't get a loan

Do you have a health insurance in Thailand?

It may be easier if your GF tries to buy the car. Much to my surprise, one day my gf bought a car- with a down payment put down, and a sketchy at best employment record and no job at the time- she managed to get bank finance through the Honda dealership. I don't believe the checks are rigorous on Thais as they may be on foreigners, particularly those here with no Thai income or job.

Try TISCO. Probably the easiest.

We got our car finance through the yellow bank at the dealership.

The car was in wife's name. We initially showed my bank account but the wanted me to transfer a one-off payment of 20,000 baht to wife's account.

20% down from memory.

Just pay cash,,, if you do not have any proof of income from within Thailand it will be like jumping through hoops

Krungsri are the easiest to get finance with, but not being married and with no job I think it is very unlikely.

You can get finance if you put 25% down on most new cars.If you want it in youre own name,do not bring youre GF into the shop in the first place.Deal with it alone.

Buy a low-mileage secondhand Toyota instead. Pay cash to save on the interest charges.

Buying a new car ranks up there with the worst financial decisions anyone makes in their life. Particularly in Thailand where the market is so obviously inflated.

"TESCO"   Two years ago the wife and I financed a Ford through Tesco Bank.   My wife signed for the loan and I showed my account balance at the bank.

I'd try Kiatnakin Bank Finance. Not sure where you live , but I know there's a branch on Pattaya Klang if that will help. Otherwise try a Google search. I recommend them because they specialise in vehicle finance and I was able to get a loan from them when I was 68 yrs old, using pension income as proof of earnings. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for the help. I think i would just put the car in Girlfriends name. I think that the statement of employment is not really investigated well here in LOS. This is going to be my last car and want an all new car with a warranty i realize the depreciation when you drive off the lot. I want to travel around Thailand and be worry free pretty much. Thanks again for your help.
