Where can I buy knives in Bangkok?

Recommended Posts

I want to buy some sharp knives,  does anyone know if there's a shop that sells them?

Chef's knives, utility knives, bowie knives?

All are available, just not under one roof. Tell us exactly what do you want and information will be forthcoming.

For chefs knives, every supermarket and department store in Bangkok.  Bowie knives you're on your own (can't you do your killing with the chefs knives when you get them?).

I was in my local market shophouse hardware store and noticed that they had an impressive display of hand held cutting devices...might be worth a look...

generally speaking for kitchen knives you want something that can take an edge easily with a hand held sharpener meaning either a carbon steel or a low grade stainless material...look to see what yer supermarket has for this purpose; most of my best knives for food preparation are found there...most thai made brands are junk, however...the japanese stuff is the best I've found...

expensive european knives are hardened stainless and when they lose their edge they need a powered grinding device to restore it...in other words unless you have that facility available then they aren't worth a shit...

Komkom is a thai brand which is pretty good (for the price)...

Central also sells the real sharpeningstones (professional ones) but not cheap...sharpening stones from the market are not flat at all, wouldn't use those on a expensive knife.
