Mystery surrounds the activities of French national Jonathan Verron who was arrested by heavily armed commandos in Koh Samui earlier today.

The CSD (Crime Suppression Division) and the French police described him as a dangerous criminal as they raided a house in Mae Nam and seized electronic gear and a quantity of compressed ganja.

Verron's Facebook page contains little in the way of written posts but has some tantalizing pictures that seem to indicate he has been associated with Thailand for at five years.

He is listed on Facebook as living in Pak Chong, Nakorn Ratchasima.

Cover photos show scenes of the "Grandmother and Grandfather" rocks on Koh Samui.

One shows a western woman in a plantation of marijuana while another features a scantily clad woman with a bong and words that say: "How to GrowBud".

Yet another features a bespectacled Verron with a western looking baby from last December.

Verron is now in custody on charges of hacking and extortion of a British financial institution.

It is claimed that with two others he conspired to extort money from the institution by threatening to reveal customer information.

Customer information ? extortion ?  So you have a legal account with a British institution, what are they going to do publish your name, address, bank balance and account number for all to see, must be worth 100k pounds to stop that ??? Tax avoidance ?

It's simply unbelievable.

Just watched a Thai TV CH7 video of the "raid".

All nicely captured on video walking behind the heavy armed CSD men.

Only in Thailand!

The other newspaper writes that French police and Embassy staff were involved.

He was also dealing weapons and drugs in the internet.

Not a good example how to make an online income from Thailand.

Some seem to believe that Thailand is still so "safe" they can maneuver freely.

I assume Thailand wants to get rid of him quickly.

Tax avoidance ?

For example.

And likely customers who are not UK nationals and whose accounts do show 8 digits and more?

Also: what would customers think if they hear about a bank being hacked?

Run, run, run!

How long will the name of the "financial institution" be kept secret?

Wonder if he is going to get the famous DSI cell where somebody always seems to forget a belt or a scraf? Or maybe it´s going to be the one where invisible forces beat them so bad that they die in the hospital ER? Never mind if they are invisible. The cameras never works anyway. Just wonder what the excuse is this time? Something like "Oohh! Somebody forgot to change the tape in the webcam, so it didn´t record." :cheesy:

Good for him to get caught, though! He deservs it!

It's hard to believe that anyone could be this stupid. He gave them all the information they needed to arrest him.
