A BBQ chicken seller in Isaan thought all her Christmases had come together at the weekend when she got a Facebook message from drinks boss "Khun Tan" saying she was the lucky winner of one million baht.

However, that joy quickly turned to rightful suspicion as a request was made for her to buy 4 lots of 1,000 baht phone credit before the million was hers.

Netizens liked the fact that this was no gullible mark. Jampee Khumsap, 38, smelt a rat and sniffed out plenty.

Someone was just posing as Tan Phasakornnathee who runs the massive Ichitan drinks group and regularly hands out real prizes.

She warned other to be careful of the scam.

A similar case was reported on Thaivisa involving the Ichitan group last year.

As the old adage goes, don't count your chickens before you see them....

It would be in the interest of Ichitan Group and the real Khun Tan, to give this woman some kind of reward. She actually helped the company to raise awareness of the scam and therefore might have help with there marketing for free.

I get at least 5 skype call during the night from Africa asking "can you please add me for a chat" all scams of various kinds. I know that no one in my family has anything worth worring about, so I just block and delete them

Here in UK I was getting calls from a number with Country Code  252 (Somalia) which is a well-known scam where they hang up, and hope you're going to call back. Fat chance - blocked!

This is the "one ring scam" making the rounds. People call back and they are given the

run-around, music, put on hold etc. When you get your phone bill you will find a phone

charge of as much as $40 a minute. You made the call to a 900 type number, so have to

pay the bill. People are curious, many phone back to see who called.

That's the one! I cant believe how stupid some people are to even bother...especially if you don't even know anyone in the particular country..D'Oh!

However, I didn't say before but much kudos to Jampee Khumsap for not falling for it 👍

There is always someone out there who is more than willing to seperate you from your hard earned money. Good on her for smelling a rat and posting it here so other people can see and read about it.
