Windows 10 Shortcuts

Recommended Posts

Another useful shortcut that I use a lot is [Windows Key]+R which opens a "run" dialogue.

And another old trick...

Activate GodMode in Windows 10
(GodMode puts all of your settings under one roof)

Activate GodMode in Windows 10
(GodMode puts all of your settings under one roof)

Set up GodMode
To enable GodMode, check if the user account you are using is an administrator account and then right-click on the desktop and click New > Folder.

Next, copy and paste the following into the folder name:

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

Note: Make sure to copy the whole line above, including GodMode, the period and the brackets.

The folder icon will change to a control panel icon. Double-click on the new icon to see your universal settings panel. The settings are organized under various headings, from Administrative Tools to Windows Firewall.

Very useful, thanks...………….now what to use when the computer freezes and the mouse will not move?

Tried Ctrl/Alt/Del but nothing; tried Alt/F4, nothing; tried a couple of others which I forget now, but eventually end up shutting down the computer by powering off!

Any suggestions?

While we are on the subject of tips for W10, any serious gamer or power user may find this useful. This is for W10 1803 and works on both Home and Pro versions. On Pro it will give you an additional level in Power Options above the current High Performance and unmask the option of Ultimate Performance.

Default Power Options on Windows 10 Pro.

Open Windows Powershell (Admin) and copy & paste the below line:

powercfg -duplicatescheme e9a42b02-d5df-448d-aa00-03f14749eb61

Before pressing Enter.

After pressing Enter

Ultimate Performance option added. Remember, this will only work for version 1803 and later.

Enjoy.

If the whole Computer freezes (e.g. keyboard & mouse inoperative) I guess there is no other option but by power cycling it

Switch off by...

  1. Long press of the on/off switch
  2. Removal of the power/battery if a Laptop
  3. Removal of the power cord if a Desktop/Tower

I too would be interested to know of any other option.
