PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN — Seven people died Monday after a truck crashed into a car and a pickup truck outside Prachuap Khiri Khan city.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the truck – running on southbound roadside – lost control as the driver took a sudden turn to avoid colliding against another vehicle, slid into the northbound side and crashed into the car before hitting the pickup truck shortly before 7am.

A six-wheel truck collided with an SUV in Prachuap Khiri Khan on Monday morning, killing both drivers and five passengers.

Bang Saphan district police were summoned to Phetakasem Road at 6.45am and found the multiple fatalities, including truck driver Chakkraphan Naksak, 25.

His wife riding with him was severely injured and taken to the district hospital.

Police determined that the driver of a pickup in front of the truck lost control and Chakkraphan swerved to avoid it, crossing the road island and striking the SUV.

The SUV driver and all five passengers were killed.

Yes car drivers here first reaction is to swerve rather than pump the brakes to avoid swerving or fish tailing...

if you swerve and then the brakes, high probability of lost vehicle control and Crossing over other lanes or running into trees or power poles....

would had been better to hit the car ahead as both were traveling the same direction and semi would have had better chance of control (breaking) and avoided oncoming traffic...

Isn't that what ABS is for?

We passed a pick up yesterday near Chiang Rai with at least 20 people standing in the back and god knows how many in the cab. A disaster waiting to happen if ever there was.

Seen it so many times, even close to home, they always swerve and never brake straight, which causes unnecessary loss of innocent lives .
