Greenbook not up to date - Does it matter?

Recommended Posts

I've looked at buying an older, inexpensive Yamaha Mio. It drives good, has about 68,000kms and costs under 10K. It has been newly serviced, new back tire, current insurance and registration. The person that has the bike sayd a friend left it with her, along with the Greenbook and copy of license. I don't think the name has been updated for several owners. I don't really want to spend the money on that either. Is it a big deal? I'm planning on only keeping it for about 6-7 months, so am only thinking about avoiding renting and getting a bit of my money back in the end.

So I'm guessing the name on license doesn't match the book ?

That doesn't matter, because the person on the License maybe doesn't own it.

I would say it must belong to the person in the Green Book if the Insurance / Registration is up to date

Others may contribute better info

She said she actually went some office to inquire about the name change and they told her not to waste her money?!

But come to think of it, only the person in the Green Book can sell it unless another person has Power of Attorney
