PHUKET:-- Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana today (Nov 8 ) finally publicly confirmed some details of the new salvage team hired to recover the wreck of the disaster-struck Phoenix tour boat.

According to the Phuket office of the Public Relations Department, speaking to the press outside the Phuket Forestry Center on Phuket Rd in Phuket Town, Governor Phakaphong identified the new salvage company hired from Singapore as “Seaquest Marine Ltd”.

“This new company let their divers come to the site since Nov 7 (yesterday), and are waiting for a 1,200-ton crane with an arm 100 metres long and a 34m boat to arrive from Singapore,” Gov Phakaphong said.

How about announcing it is part of "Green Thailand" and just leave on the bottom as an artificial reef? Oh, no kickbacks....

Why do all these contracts have to be so secretive.what was the name of the last contractors that failed and were paid, who paid them and how much and are there any wheels in motion to recover the money as they failed to fulfill the recovery of the boat.money just thrown away and they don't even have to answer about the whole balls up so far.it seems the saying the buck stops here doesn't apply to Thailand where it's just swept under the carpet.just the headline is enough...governor breaches silence on new salvage team.

I would have thought that Thailand with its long coastline would have at least one company capable of doing the job rather than contracting out to Singapore.
