Yala policeman killed attempting to arrest drug suspects

By The Nation

A policeman was shot and killed while attempting to arrest youths during a kratom drinks party in Yala's Yaha district Friday night.

Police said Pol Cpl Afnan Yadaha, 25, died at the Yaha district hospital at 11pm.

Afnan and a team of policeman from the Yaha police station were checking a house in Ban Pulae village in Tambon Baro at 9.30pm after they received complaints that a group of teenagers were having a kratom drinks party at the house.

When the teenagers saw police, they ran out of the house in several directions. Afnan followed a group before one of the suspects opened fire on him.

When will Thailand legalise kratom? This is senseless death. It is the same as people enjoying alcohol which is legalised and which is worse.
