PHUKET: A group of local residents in Karon have filed a petition asking the Phuket Governor to investigate a barrier placed across a road that has been used for decades by local people.

Led by Aummara Thepkaew, the residents from Soi Patak in the Bangla area of Karon filed the petition at the Damrongdhama Centre (Provincial Ombudsman’s Office) on Monday (Dec3).

Ms Aummara explained that the barrier, installed by a private land owner, had blocked 14 families from directly accessing their homes along Soi Patak.

Actually business owners and tuktuk drivers "do anything they like", but the Governor and Karon Municipality do what the real people in power tell them to do or in this case not to do.

Remember the lady that had the Russian ladies arrested for possessing coral and shells? It's the same person that's had this barrier put in place. She's a trained lawyer apparently and this makes people a bit scared of her.

If the land owner is Legit, then the local council should not of re-built the road. Too late to send the owner a bill ?????

Sounds like some sort of access way now considered a 'right of way'. If tesibaan built a road then very good legal case as public way.
