Never buy fresh products at either of them, we buy at Makro. There are a limited number of products we dont find at Makro that we buy at Villa market, Tesco, Big C or Gourmet.

Villa is easily the most expensive, best avoided if possible.

Bluport? What is it where is it?  I can't find anything about it online except a shopping mall in Hua Hin....

"What is it where is it?"? In your own words it's "a shopping mall in Hua Hin...."

You are correct, if low price is your only criterion for buying your food.

Meanwhile VM often has much better quality products, plus there are many items that I can only get at VM. Also, given my location, I don't mind paying a bit more instead of having to spend another fifteen to twenty minutes driving and parking at the other place where prices are cheaper. My free time is very valuable to me and is always a factor in determining the "full" price of something when I'm shopping.

I don't think of higher prices as a personal insult, or a matter of principle.

Excellent post, but I see what I have just described as a sort of extortion.

I am curious as to what sort of product this comparison is based on?

I know Villa are often more expensive on some imported fresh food items but in my experience, their groceries and other packaged goods are mostly line priced.

No-one is pointing a gun to your head and forcing you to buy anything. How on earth can it be extortion. If you want to go to a 7 11 and buy it up to you.

OK, it's been a few months since I was in Villa, a tin of corn beef was over 260.Bt, that same tin in Foodland was 179Bt. I refuse to believe that this only applied to one article.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the quality of the fish and other seafood products in Bluport which are far better than VM.
